Background And Purpose: Entry-level physical therapist (PT) education programs play a critical role in inspiring future leaders to become moral change agents, capable of understanding and addressing evolving societal health needs. Social reconstructionism represents an educational philosophy focused on alleviating pervasive inequities and improving the health of society; however, its application in PT education is not well understood. The purpose of this article is to describe the approach 3 entry-level PT programs used to manifest social reconstructionism within their curricula to foster social consciousness and strengthen moral agency.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFPurpose: The purpose of this project was to implement a process for learner-driven, formative, prospective, ad-hoc, entrustment assessment in Doctor of Physical Therapy clinical education. Our goals were to develop an innovative entrustment assessment tool, and then explore whether the tool detected (1) differences between learners at different stages of development and (2) differences within learners across the course of a clinical education experience. We also investigated whether there was a relationship between the number of assessments and change in performance.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify the debt profile of entry-level physical therapists and explore relationships between student debt and clinical practice setting choices.
Methods: This study utilized a cross-sectional survey design to identify debt profiles and explore relationships between student debt and the clinical practice choices of entry-level physical therapists.
Background: Limb-salvage surgery and segmental reconstruction for the treatment of lower extremity osseous tumors in the pediatric population have been described in the literature, but there is little consensus regarding the optimal surgical treatment for this patient population.
Methods: A systematic review of the literature was performed to identify studies focusing on limb-salvage procedures in pediatric patients who were managed with one of three reconstructions with use of a metallic endoprosthesis, allograft, or allograft-prosthesis composite. Data were segregated according to the excised and reconstructed anatomical location (proximal part of the femur, total femur, distal part of the femur, proximal part of the tibia) and were collated to assess modes of failure and functional outcomes of each reconstruction type for each anatomic location.
