A new synthetic method to access α-nitroso pyrroles is presented. This method utilises the nitrosonium salt NOBF, enabling short reaction times (<10 minutes) and avoiding the harsh acidic conditions usually associated with pyrrole nitrosation. Application of this procedure to diarylated pyrroles yielded several novel nitroso-pyrroles.

Herein, we describe synthetic methodology used to prepare a series of 5'-thymidine-linked formylphenylboronic acids as probes to interrogate sugar nucleotide processing enzymes that recognize thymidine. The first synthetic strategy mitigated the need for protecting group manipulations of thymidine by capitalizing upon the straightforward preparation, isolation, and reactivity of 5'-azidothymidine.
