Speech-Language Pathology Preservice Preparation for Working in School-Age Literacy: International Perspectives.

Purpose: This narrative review of preservice training of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to work in school-age literacy contexts examines (a) studies regarding SLPs' perceptions of their preservice training and (b) accreditation requirements for preservice training in selected nations.

Method: A review of the literature examining (a) SLPs' perspectives about their preservice training; (b) SLPs' beliefs, confidence, and self-efficacy; and (c) speech-language pathology preservice program content was conducted via analysis of studies published after the year 2010. Policy documents and websites outlining accreditation requirements in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand were reviewed.

Management of recurrent intussusception after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.

While intussusception is a well described complication of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), cases of recurrent intussusception after lead point resection and reconstruction are described much less frequently. We present a case of a 28-year-old female with triple recurrent intussusception all of which were treated with surgical resection and reconstruction of her RYGB anastomoses. There is currently limited evidence to direct management in the setting of recurrent intussusception.

Association of Limited Health Literacy With Frailty, Health-Related Quality of Life, and Health Care Utilization Among Older Adults With Cancer: The Cancer and Aging Resilience Evaluation Registry.

Purpose: Limited health literacy-ability to obtain, process, and understand health information-can hinder communication, access to medical treatment, and identification and management of comorbidities. Older adults have high rates of poor health literacy, but its role in aging-related outcomes among older adults with cancer is understudied.

Methods: We included 876 older adults age 60 years and older with cancer from the Cancer and Aging Resilience Evaluation Registry completing self-reported geriatric assessment, including health literacy, at first visit to medical oncology.

Background: Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is a prevalent anxiety disorder characterized by uncontrollable worry, trouble sleeping, muscle tension, and irritability. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is one of the first-line treatments that has demonstrated high efficacy in reducing symptoms of anxiety. Electronically delivered CBT (e-CBT) has been a promising adaptation of in-person treatment, showing comparable efficacy with increased accessibility and scalability.

Effects of cognitive behavioural therapy and exposure-response prevention on brain activation in obsessive-compulsive disorder patients: systematic review and meta-analysis.

Current psychotherapeutic treatments for OCD, while effective, have complex outcomes with mixed efficacy. Previous research has observed baseline brain activation patterns in OCD patients, elucidating some of the implications of this disorder. Observing the effects of evidence-based psychotherapeutics for OCD on brain activation (through MRI) may provide a more comprehensive outline of pathology.

Catalytic Olefin Transpositions Facilitated by Ruthenium N,N,N-Pincer Complexes.

In this report, we demonstrate olefin transposition/isomerization reactions catalyzed by a series of -pincer (1,3-bis(2-pyridylimino)isoindoline) Ru-hydride complexes. The protocol proceeds at room temperature for most substrates, achieving excellent yields, regioselectivity, and diastereoselectivity in short reaction times. The air-stable Ru-chloride derivatives of these complexes exhibit comparable reactivity enabling benchtop setup and synthetic versatility.

Longitudinal Progression of Patients with Long COVID Treated in a Post-COVID Clinic: A Cross-Sectional Survey.

Background: In addition to the morbidity and mortality associated with acute infection, COVID-19 has been associated with persistent symptoms (>30 days), often referred to as Long COVID (LC). LC symptoms often cluster into phenotypes, resembling conditions such as fibromyalgia, postural orthostatic tachycardiac syndrome (POTS), and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). LC clinics have been established to best address the needs of LC patients and continuity of care.

Introduction: Online mental healthcare has gained significant attention due to its effectiveness, accessibility, and scalability in the management of mental health symptoms. Despite these advantages over traditional in-person formats, including higher availability and accessibility, issues with low treatment adherence and high dropout rates persist. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies could help address these issues, through powerful predictive models, language analysis, and intelligent dialogue with users, however the study of these applications remains underexplored.

Experiences using an online therapist-guided psychotherapy platform (OPTT) in correctional workers with depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

Introduction: Correctional workers (CWs) are frequently exposed to potentially traumatic events in the workplace, leading to an increased prevalence of mental health concerns. Online psychotherapy can address many of the barriers CWs face when seeking adequate mental health care. Despite their benefits, CWs' experience using digital mental health interventions is relatively unknown.

Validation of the Learner Engagement Instrument for Continuing Professional Development.

Purpose: Learner engagement is the energy learners exert to remain focused and motivated to learn. The Learner Engagement Instrument (LEI) was developed to measure learner engagement in a short continuing professional development (CPD) activity. The authors validated LEI scores using validity evidence of internal structure and relationships with other variables.

Revisiting the Reactivity of the Dismissed Hydrogen Atom Transfer Catalyst Succinimide--oxyl.

Phthalimide--oxyl (PINO) and related radicals are promising catalysts for C-H functionalization reactions. To date, only a small number of -oxyl derivatives have demonstrated improved activities over PINO. We postulate that the lack of success in identifying superior catalysts is associated not only with challenges in the design and synthesis of new structures, but also the way catalysts are evaluated and utilized.

Purpose: People with dementia often experience poor outcomes in hospital and prolonged lengths of stay. They are sometimes labelled as having "poor rehabilitation potential". This study aimed to understand the inpatient rehabilitation experiences of people with dementia or cognitive impairment, and their support people, to inform future work to improve rehabilitation access and outcomes.
