Purpose: This narrative review of preservice training of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to work in school-age literacy contexts examines (a) studies regarding SLPs' perceptions of their preservice training and (b) accreditation requirements for preservice training in selected nations.
Method: A review of the literature examining (a) SLPs' perspectives about their preservice training; (b) SLPs' beliefs, confidence, and self-efficacy; and (c) speech-language pathology preservice program content was conducted via analysis of studies published after the year 2010. Policy documents and websites outlining accreditation requirements in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand were reviewed.
While intussusception is a well described complication of Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), cases of recurrent intussusception after lead point resection and reconstruction are described much less frequently. We present a case of a 28-year-old female with triple recurrent intussusception all of which were treated with surgical resection and reconstruction of her RYGB anastomoses. There is currently limited evidence to direct management in the setting of recurrent intussusception.

Older adults have high rates of poor health literacy, but its role in aging-related outcomes among older adults with cancer is understudied.
Methods: We included 876 older adults age 60 years and older with cancer from the Cancer and Aging Resilience Evaluation Registry completing self-reported geriatric assessment, including health literacy, at first visit to medical oncology.
Avian reovirus-infected hens shed virus heavily at 2-3 days post-inoculation.Shedding became minimal after 5-7 days post-inoculation.ARV variants offered 100% protection in hens upon subsequent infections.

We report a synthesis of bicyclo[2.1.1]hexanes via an intramolecular formal (3+2) cycloaddition of allylated cyclopropanes bearing a 4-nitrobenzimine substituent.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is one of the first-line treatments that has demonstrated high efficacy in reducing symptoms of anxiety. Electronically delivered CBT (e-CBT) has been a promising adaptation of in-person treatment, showing comparable efficacy with increased accessibility and scalability.

Current psychotherapeutic treatments for OCD, while effective, have complex outcomes with mixed efficacy. Previous research has observed baseline brain activation patterns in OCD patients, elucidating some of the implications of this disorder. Observing the effects of evidence-based psychotherapeutics for OCD on brain activation (through MRI) may provide a more comprehensive outline of pathology.

The protocol proceeds at room temperature for most substrates, achieving excellent yields, regioselectivity, and diastereoselectivity in short reaction times. The air-stable Ru-chloride derivatives of these complexes exhibit comparable reactivity enabling benchtop setup and synthetic versatility.

LC symptoms often cluster into phenotypes, resembling conditions such as fibromyalgia, postural orthostatic tachycardiac syndrome (POTS), and myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). LC clinics have been established to best address the needs of LC patients and continuity of care.

However, a link between prevalence of these conditions and symbiosis has not been widely demonstrated. We test for these associations using social amoebae and their bacterial endosymbionts.

Despite these advantages over traditional in-person formats, including higher availability and accessibility, issues with low treatment adherence and high dropout rates persist. Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies could help address these issues, through powerful predictive models, language analysis, and intelligent dialogue with users, however the study of these applications remains underexplored.

Online psychotherapy can address many of the barriers CWs face when seeking adequate mental health care. Despite their benefits, CWs' experience using digital mental health interventions is relatively unknown.

The Learner Engagement Instrument (LEI) was developed to measure learner engagement in a short continuing professional development (CPD) activity. The authors validated LEI scores using validity evidence of internal structure and relationships with other variables.

To date, only a small number of -oxyl derivatives have demonstrated improved activities over PINO. We postulate that the lack of success in identifying superior catalysts is associated not only with challenges in the design and synthesis of new structures, but also the way catalysts are evaluated and utilized.

They are sometimes labelled as having "poor rehabilitation potential". This study aimed to understand the inpatient rehabilitation experiences of people with dementia or cognitive impairment, and their support people, to inform future work to improve rehabilitation access and outcomes.

Methods: This is a hybrid empirical research study, narrative review, and expert perspective.
Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) is both a therapeutic target and a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD). MicroRNA (miRNA) has been shown to regulate cholesterol homeostasis, and miRNA in blood circulation has been linked to hypercholesterolemia. However, few studies to date have associated miRNA with phenotypes like LDL-c in a healthy population.

Previous efforts have focused on the functionalization of the archetype, phthalimide-N-oxyl. Driven in part by the limited options for modification of this structure, this strategy has provided only modest improvements in reactivity and/or solubility.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFArylethylamines are popular structural elements in bioactive molecules but are often made through a linear series of synthetic steps. A modular protocol to assemble arylethylamines from alkenes in one step would represent a useful advance in discovery chemistry, though current limitations preclude a generally applicable method. In this work we disclose an aminoarylation of alkenes using aryl sulfinamide reagents as bifunctional amine and arene donors.
