Purpose: Up to 30% of patients with glioblastoma (GBM) develop venous thromboembolism (VTE) over the course of the disease. Although not as high, the risk for VTE is also increased in patients with meningioma. Direct measurement of peak thrombin generation (TG) allows quantitative assessment of systemic coagulation activation in patients with GBM and meningioma.

Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review and gathered and synthesized all of the available data into a cohesive resource for review and analysis of the topic.
Results: Pooled analysis of the available data shows that transradial access in pediatric patients has a success rate of 91%, a vasospasm rate of 11.

Hierarchical clustering is frequently used for grouping results in expression or haplotype analyses. These methods can elucidate patterns between measures that can then be applied to discerning their validity in discriminating between experimental conditions. Here a hierarchical clustering method is used to analyze the results of an imaging genetics study using multiple brain morphology and cognitive testing endpoints for older adults with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or cognitive complaints (CC) compared to healthy controls (HC).

However, there have been few studies of adults at genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease prior to the onset of symptoms. The purpose of this study was to determine whether brain activation patterns associated with working memory differ as a function of apolipoprotein E (APOE) genotype in cognitively intact adults.

In three experiments, location memory for faces was examined using a computer version of the matching game Concentration. Findings suggested that physical attractiveness led to more efficient matching for female faces but not for male faces. Study 3 revealed this interaction despite allowing participants to initially see, attend to, and match the attractive male faces in the first few turns.

This paper explores self-organization in the context of an agent-based model of ant colony food foraging. We gather specific measures of order-creation and constraint construction particular to leading theories of nonequilibrium thermodynamics that purport to govern self-organizing dynamics.
