Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to analyze plasma cannabinoid levels in dogs suspected of cannabis toxicity to understand the relationship between clinical symptoms and cannabinoid concentrations.
  • Among the 38 dogs examined, common symptoms included ataxia, urinary incontinence, lethargy, and hyperesthesia, with THC being the most prevalent cannabinoid detected in plasma samples.
  • The findings suggest that while abnormal reflexes correlate with THC levels, other clinical signs do not, indicating that veterinarians can diagnose cannabis toxicity with high accuracy based on clinical history and presenting symptoms alone.

Objective: To determine the pharmacokinetics (PK) of two oral doses of a herbal extract (CHE) containing 1:20 THC:CBD in 12 healthy Domestic Shorthair cats.

Methods: Single-dose PK were assessed after oral administration of CHE at low or high dose (2 mg CBD + 0.1 mg THC, or 5 mg CBD + 0.

In this case report, we investigated the potential link between SMAD3/transforming growth factor β (TGF-β) pathway dysregulation and aortic valvular disease. We report a middle-aged female, heterozygous for the R18W novel variant of the SMAD3 gene, with a history of an aortic valve disorder and three aortic valve replacements in a span of 15 years. The patient neither has a history of congenital connective tissue disorders nor any known congenital valvular defects.

To determine the pharmacokinetics (PK) and safety of various oral doses of a herbal extract (CHE) containing a 1:20 ratio of Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC):cannabidiol (CBD) in 13 healthy Beagle-cross dogs. Single-dose PK was assessed after oral administration of CHE at low, medium, or high doses [2, 5, or 10 mg CBD and 0.1, 0.

There is uncertainty regarding the appropriate dose of Cannabidiol (CBD) for childhood epilepsy. We present the preliminary data of seven participants from the Cannabidiol in Children with Refractory Epileptic Encephalopathy (CARE-E) study. The study is an open-label, prospective, dose-escalation trial.

Electrospray ionization (ESI)-mass spectrometry (MS) can provide information on protein-ligand interactions via detection of the corresponding complexes as gaseous ions. Unfortunately, some systems are prone to dissociation upon transfer into the gas phase. The reversible oxygen binding to hemoglobin (Hb) has been extensively studied in solution using a wide range of biophysical techniques.

Sialyl Lewis(x) (SLe(x), Siaα2-3Galβ1-4(Fucα1-3)GlcNAcβOR) is an important sialic acid-containing carbohydrate epitope involved in many biological processes such as inflammation and cancer metastasis. In the biosynthetic process of SLe(x), α2-3-sialyltransferase-catalyzed sialylation generally proceeds prior to α1-3-fucosyltransferase-catalyzed fucosylation. For the chemoenzymatic synthesis of SLe(x) containing different sialic acid forms, however, it would be more efficient if diverse sialic acid forms are transferred in the last step to the fucosylated substrate Lewis(x) (Le(x)).
