Objectives: We aimed to identify whether non-English language preference (NELP) or race was associated with code status in a PICU.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This was a single-center retrospective cohort study of 45,143 patients admitted to the PICU between January 2013 and December 2022, excluding those with pre-PICU do not resuscitate (DNR) orders.

Patient-provider language discordance is known to negatively affect patient experiences. This study describes the birth experience during COVID-19 among monolingual Spanish and bilingual Spanish/English speakers. Qualitative videoconference interviews with 15 monolingual Spanish and 15 bilingual Spanish/English patients that gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic at a NYC tertiary-care hospital.
