Objective: To comprehensively assess cardio-metabolic risk factors and their management in a large sample of outpatients treated with clozapine.
Methods: Observational cross-sectional study of all clozapine users attending specialized clozapine monitoring outpatient clinics in three public hospitals in Sydney, Australia were approached to participate over the one-year period 01/10/2015-30/09/2016. Cardio-metabolic risk factors including metabolic syndrome, risk for future development of diabetes, smoking, physical activity, nutrition, and prescribed medications were assessed at face-to-face interview and through medical record review.
This essay explores the early history of Herbert Simon's principle of bounded rationality in the context of his Artificial Intelligence research in the mid 1950s. It focuses in particular on how Simon and his colleagues at the RAND Corporation translated a model of human reasoning into a computer program, the Logic Theory Machine. They were motivated by a belief that computers and minds were the same kind of thing--namely, information-processing systems.

These limitations range from the assumptions and commitments of scientific practitioners to the material and ideational contexts of their practice. The precise nature of such limits and the relations among them remains an open question in the history of science.

The resulting hybrid humans+AURA system developed the capacity to make novel contributions to pure mathematics by very untraditional means. This essay traces how these unconventional contributions were made and made possible through negotiations between the humans and the AURA at Argonne and the transformation in mathematical intuition they produced.
