Massive appendiceal mucinous neoplasm diagnosed after abdominal trauma: Pitfalls in imaging and diagnosis.

Low grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm (LAMN) is a rare tumor presenting typically with symptoms of acute appendicitis. A 33-year-old gentleman presented with abdominal fullness and discomfort secondary to abdominal trauma obtained during boxing training. Investigations with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and colonoscopy revealed a large cystic lesion in the ascending colon mesentery with unclear continuation with the appendix.

Perineal fibroadenoma masquerading as a soft-tissue sarcoma: a case report.

We report a case of a perineal fibroadenoma initially diagnosed on ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging as a soft tissue sarcoma in a 35-year-old female. Following wide local excision, histopathology revealed the lesion as a vulval fibroadenoma. We provide an overview of the literature and highlight the need to consider fibroadenoma, arising from ectopic breast tissue, as an important differential for general surgeons and gynaecologists caring for patients with perineal masses.

Enterocutaneous fistula resulting from the drainage of a contained appendiceal perforation secondary to a partially obstructing low-grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm.

We report a case of an enterocutaneous fistula resulting from drainage of a contained appendiceal perforation secondary to an obstructing appendiceal mucinous neoplasm. A 66-year-old otherwise healthy female patient proceeded to laparoscopic appendicectomy with resection of the fistula tract. Histopathology demonstrated a mid-appendiceal mucinous neoplasm, with a benign enterocutaneous fistula tract communicating with the distal, non-malignant portion of the appendix.

Rupture of visceral artery aneurysm following elective spinal surgery: a case report and review.

Introduction: Visceral artery aneurysms (VAA), an uncommon disorder of splanchnic vasculature, are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Despite largely being amenable to endovascular therapies, the initial management of symptomatic VAA typically falls under the care of general surgeons. It is thus essential to have knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of VAA and to be cognisant of deviations from normal gastrointestinal vasculature.
