Background: The use of vancomycin powder in spine surgery has been supported in adult populations, however, its efficacy in preventing postoperative surgical site infections in AIS patients is yet to be determined.

Methods: A multi-center review was conducted from June 2010 to February 2019, using ICD and CPT codes to identify AIS patients who underwent primary PSF. The patients were divided into two groups: the vancomycin cohort (receiving local vancomycin powder prior to wound closure) and the non-vancomycin cohort.

Methods: This analysis is a single-center, retrospective review of ASD patients treated between 2015 and 2021. All patients had a minimum 2-year follow-up and spinal fusion to the sacrum without sacroiliac fusion and met at least one radiographic and procedural criterion: pelvic incidence-lumbar lordosis ≥ 20°, T1 pelvic angle ≥ 20°, sagittal vertical axis ≥ 7.

Interferometric Near-field Fano Spectroscopy of Single Halide Perovskite Nanoparticles.

Semiconducting halide perovskite nanoparticles support Mie-type resonances that confine light on the nanoscale in localized modes with well-defined spatial field profiles yet unknown near-field dynamics. We introduce an interferometric scattering-type near-field microscopy technique to probe the local electric field dynamics at the surface of a single MAPbI nanoparticle. The amplitude and phase of the coherent light scattering from such modes are probed in a broad spectral range and with high spatial resolution.

Ultrafast Coherent Exciton Couplings and Many-Body Interactions in Monolayer WS.

Transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are quantum confined systems with interesting optoelectronic properties, governed by Coulomb interactions in the monolayer (1L) limit, where strongly bound excitons provide a sensitive probe for many-body interactions. Here, we use two-dimensional electronic spectroscopy (2DES) to investigate many-body interactions and their dynamics in 1L-WS at room temperature and with sub-10 fs time resolution. Our data reveal coherent interactions between the strongly detuned A and B exciton states in 1L-WS.

Incidental dural tears during pediatric posterior spinal fusions.

Purpose: To characterize the frequency of incidental dural tears in pediatric spine surgery, their treatment, complications, and results of long-term follow-up.

Methods: A retrospective review of all pediatric patients who underwent a posterior spinal fusion (PSF) between 2004-2019 at a tertiary children's hospital was conducted. Biomaterial-based scaffolds for direct in situ programming of tumor-infiltrating T lymphocytes.

Adoptive cell therapy with tumor-infiltrating T cells (TILs) has generated exciting clinical trial results for the treatment of unresectable solid tumors. However, solid tumors remain difficult targets for adoptively transferred T cells, due in part to poor migration of TILs to the tumor, physical barriers to infiltration, and active suppression of TILs by the tumor. Furthermore, a highly skilled team is required to obtain tumor tissue, isolate and expand the TILs ex vivo, and reinfuse them into the patient, which drives up costs and limits patient access.
