Underwater optical imaging, especially in coastal waters, suffers from reduced spatial resolution and contrast by forward scattered light. With the increased number of hyper- and multi-spectral imaging applications, the effect of the point spread function (PSF) at different spectral bands becomes increasingly more relevant. In this work, extensive laboratory measurements of the PSF at 450, 500, 550, 600 and 650 nm in different turbidity have been carried out.

This study aims to compare depression, anxiety, and fatigue, and their effects on disease activity and physical activity in these conditions.
Methods: From January 2019 to March 2021, patients with RA, primary SjD and SLE were assessed consecutively in a monocentric cross-sectional study at the rheumatology outpatient clinic of the Hannover Medical School.
Photonics offers a promising platform for quantum computing, owing to the availability of chip integration for mass-manufacturable modules, fibre optics for networking and room-temperature operation of most components. However, experimental demonstrations are needed of complete integrated systems comprising all basic functionalities for universal and fault-tolerant operation. Here we construct a (sub-performant) scale model of a quantum computer using 35 photonic chips to demonstrate its functionality and feasibility.

Imaging and electrophysiological studies have revealed retinal alterations across several neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders, but it remains largely unclear which specific cell types and biological mechanisms are involved.
Objective: To determine whether specific retinal cell types are affected by genomic risk for neuropsychiatric and neurological disorders and to explore the mechanisms through which genomic risk converges in these cell types.

Background/objectives: One of the most important diagnostic tools in bone tumors is X-rays. Preliminary and, in the case of some benign lesions, definitive diagnoses are formed using this basic tool. Part of the decision making in this stage is based on statistical probability using the patient's age, as well as the incidence and predilection sites of different entities.

In the literature, data on prognostic factors in chondrosarcomas are scarce, and most studies are limited by a short follow-up. The aim of this retrospective study was therefore to determine factors associated with the survival and local recurrence of chondrosarcomas and to compare the results with previous studies.

By using gene-set enrichment analysis methods, we found that core clock gene-sets are significantly associated with lithium response.

While the significance of chronic inflammation in the development of most diffuse tumors has been extensively studied, an exception to this analysis exists in the context of chondrosarcomas. Chondrosarcomas account for 20-30% of all bone sarcomas, with an estimated global incidence of 1 in 100,000.

This study investigates the composition and mechanical properties of symmetric and asymmetric membranes in giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs) made of palmitoyloleoyl phosphatidylcholine (POPC) and palmitoyloleoyl phosphatidic acid (POPA). A combination of fluorescence quantification, zeta potential measurements, micropipette aspiration, and bilayer molecular dynamics simulations are used to characterize these membranes.

Against this background, the present study aimed to compare the expectations of patients undergoing day-hospital or inpatient treatment regarding wearing a mask in psychotherapy before the start of therapy with the final experience after the end of therapy. The study also investigated the extent to which expectations and experiences were influenced by other factors such as socio-demographic characteristics, patients' general attitudes towards wearing a mask, duration of treatment, or mental health diagnoses.

However, efficacy and safety concerns, laborious manufacturing protocols, and the high cost of the therapeutics are still significant barriers in gene therapy. Here we describe liquid foam as a vehicle for gene delivery.

However, solid tumors remain difficult targets for adoptively transferred T cells, due in part to poor migration of TILs to the tumor, physical barriers to infiltration, and active suppression of TILs by the tumor. Furthermore, a highly skilled team is required to obtain tumor tissue, isolate and expand the TILs ex vivo, and reinfuse them into the patient, which drives up costs and limits patient access.

We investigate the influence of anionic lipid asymmetry on the stability of giant unilamellar vesicles (GUVs), minimal plasma membrane models. To quantify asymmetry, we apply the fluorescence quenching assay, which is often difficult to reproduce, and caution in handling the quencher is generally underestimated.

Here we study NFRHT using plain silicon nitride (SiN) membrane nanomechanical resonators─a widely available substrate used in applications such as electron microscopy and optomechanics─and on which other materials can easily be deposited. We report measurements down to a minimal distance of 180 nm between a large radius of curvature (15.

However, its diagnostic utility has not been evaluated explicitly in cases with marked loosening or migration of the implant. Concerns have already been raised in cases with metallosis and severe periprosthetic osteolysis because wear-induced inflammation may yield false positive results.

The reconstruction of accurate yet simplified mimetic models of cell membranes is a very challenging goal of synthetic biology. To date, most of the research focuses on the development of eukaryotic cell membranes, while reconstitution of their prokaryotic counterparts has not been fully addressed, and the proposed models do not reflect well the complexity of bacterial cell envelopes. Here, we describe the reconstitution of biomimetic bacterial membranes with an increasing level of complexity, developed from binary and ternary lipid mixtures.

However, tapering/stopping bears the risk of decline in physical function as some patients may relapse and face increased disease activity. Here, we analyzed the impact of tapering or stopping DMARD treatment on the physical function of RA patients.

The main goal of this article was to develop a conceptual framework for examining teaching-related emotions of HE teachers by revising and extending the control-value theory of achievement emotions (CVTAE) developed to systematically classify existing findings on emotions in HE teachers and to identify a research agenda for future studies in this field. Therefore, we conducted a systematic literature review on empirical studies investigating HE teachers' teaching-related emotions to gain insights into (1) the theoretical concepts and approaches used to study HE teachers' emotions as well as the (2) antecedents and (3) consequences of experienced emotions identified in the existing studies.

Herein, we report on a late transition-metal terminal nitrido complex, which upon oxidation undergoes insertion of the nitrido nitrogen atom into the aromatic C-C bond of ferrocene. This reaction path was confirmed through N and deuterium isotope labeling experiments of the nitrido complex and ferrocenium, respectively.
