A living library concept to capture the dynamics and reactivity of mixed-metal clusters for catalysis.

The exploration of ligated metal clusters' chemical space is challenging, partly owing to an insufficiently targeted access to reactive clusters. Now, dynamic mixtures of clusters, defined as living libraries, are obtained through organometallic precursor chemistry. The libraries are populated with interrelated clusters, including transient and highly reactive ones, as well as more accessible but less reactive species.

Disease-State Dependent Associations Between Intrinsic Brain Function and Symptoms of Fatigue, Depression, and Anxiety in Crohn's Disease.

Background: Extraintestinal symptoms (EIS) in inflammatory bowel diseases, including fatigue, depression and anxiety, are highly prevalent, but poorly understood. Alterations of brain function may contribute to EIS, but their association with disease activity is unclear. This study analyzed intrinsic neural activity (INA) of individuals with Crohn's disease (CD) in different disease states and examined the relationship between INA and EIS.

Neutrophils are a part of the innate immune system and produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) to extinguish pathogens. The major source of ROS in neutrophils is NADPH oxidase, which is fueled by NADPH generated via the pentose phosphate pathway; however, it is unclear how other accessory glucose metabolism pathways and mitochondrial activity influence the respiratory burst. We examined the temporal dynamics of the respiratory burst and delineated how metabolism changes over time after neutrophil activation.

Psilocybin-Assisted Therapy for Brain Cancer Related Existential Distress: A Case-Report.

Psilocybin-assisted therapy (PAT) has gained traction in palliative care as a treatment for existential distress in the last decade. Patients with brain cancer have been excluded from studies, yet they stand to benefit as much as other patients with cancer-related psychological distress. In this report, we discuss the case of a patient with end-of-life distress secondary to stage 4 astrocytoma that received PAT through Health Canada's Special Access Program.

Copper Imidazolin-imine Coordination Compounds as Precursors for a Cu/Al Complex.

The reactions of [(CFSOCu)(CH)] with the sterically hindered imidazolin-2-imine ligands DippImTMS (1,3-Bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-2-(trimethylsilylimino)imidazoline) or DippImH (1,3-bis(2,6-diisopropylphenyl) imidazolin-2-imine) lead to the formation of the linear copper(I) complexes [Cu(DippImTMS)(OTf)] () and [Cu(DippImH)][OTf] (), respectively. The triflate counteranion in can be easily exchanged to the weakly coordinating [BAr] giving [Cu(DippImH)][BAr] () (BAr = tetrakis[3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]borate). Substitution of the N-heterocyclic imine (NHI) ligand in by AlCp* (Cp* = pentamethylcyclopentadienyl) gives the tetrahedral [Cu(AlCp*)][BAr] ().

Cuprophilic Interactions in Polymeric [CuO(Mes)].

The properties of cuprophilic compounds and the underlying fundamental principles responsible for the Cu(I)···Cu(I) interactions have been the subject of intense research as their diverse structural and physical attributes are being explored. In this light, we performed a new study of the compound [CuO(Mes)] reported by Haakansson et al. using state of the art experimental and theoretical analysis techniques.

Serotoninergic antidepressants combination in psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy: a case report.

Psilocybin has reemerged as a promising treatment for difficult-to-treat depression (DTD). Although there is limited evidence regarding interactions between psilocybin and other psychotropic drugs, clinical trials require that patients discontinue their antidepressants before study entry to isolate the benefits of psilocybin and to minimize the risk of adverse events. We present the first case of an adult patient with DTD who received psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy (PAP) in combination with two serotoninergic antidepressants (duloxetine and vortioxetine).

Nephrotic syndrome and adrenoleukodystrophy in a 5-year-old boy.

Nephrotic syndrome is a common condition characterized by filtration of large amounts of protein, hypoalbuminemia, reduced plasma oncotic pressure, sodium retention, and edema. The mechanism responsible for sodium retention in this condition is still controversial. Two different pathophysiological pathways have been proposed to explain edema formation: activation of neurohumoral effector mechanisms, including the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, or abnormal intrinsic/primary renal sodium retention.

Crystal structure elucidation of a geminal and vicinal bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate) ester.

Geminal and vicinal bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate) esters are highly reactive alkylene synthons used as potent electrophiles in the macrocyclization of imidazoles and the transformation of bypyridines to diquat derivatives via nucleophilic substitution reactions. Herein we report the crystal structures of methylene (CHFOS) and ethylene bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate) (CHFOS), the first examples of a geminal and vicinal bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate) ester characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction (SC-XRD). With melting points slightly below ambient temperature, both reported bis(trifluoromethanesulfonate)s are air- and moisture-sensitive oils and were crystallized at 277 K to afford two-component non-merohedrally twinned crystals.

Sarcopenia Identification Using Alternative Vertebral Landmarks in Individuals with Lung Cancer.

Background: (1)Sarcopenia, or low skeletal mass index (SMI), contributes to higher lung cancer mortality. The SMI at third lumbar vertebrae (L3) is the reference standard for body composition analysis. However, there is a need to explore the validity of alternative landmarks in this population.

Homoleptic hexa- and penta-coordinated gallium(I) amide complexes of ruthenium and molybdenum.

Reaction of neutral olefin complexes of ruthenium and molybdenum with GaTMP (TMP = 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyl) by substitution leads to the formation of respective five- and six-coordinated homoleptic products. [Ru(GaTMP)] (1) and [Mo(GaTMP)] (2) were isolated and characterized. Core structure geometries were analyzed using continuous shape measure, and the complexes were subjected to DFT calculations unveiling competing π-interactions between the transition metal center and the amido substituent with the unoccupied p orbitals of the gallium.

Pediatric refractory chronic immune thrombocytopenia: Identification, patients' characteristics, and outcome.

Refractory chronic immune thrombocytopenia (r-cITP) is one of the most challenging situations in chronic immune thrombocytopenia (cITP). Pediatric r-cITP is inconsistently defined in literature, contributing to the scarcity of data. Moreover, no evidence is available to guide the choice of treatment.

Easy Synthetic Access to High-Melting Sulfurated Copolymers and their Self-Assembling Diblock Copolymers from Phenylisothiocyanate and Oxetane.

Although sulfurated polymers promise unique properties, their controlled synthesis, particularly when it comes to complex and functional architectures, remains challenging. Here, we show that the copolymerization of oxetane and phenyl isothiocyanate selectively yields polythioimidocarbonates as a new class of sulfur containing polymers, with narrow molecular weight distributions (M=5-80 kg/mol with Đ≤1.2; M=124 kg/mol) and high melting points of up to 181 °C.

Addicted parents show specific substance-related problems while raising their children, which often leads to various lifelong consequences for the children. The German rehabilitative treatment system allows bringing children to inpatient treatment centres.

The establishment and maintenance of heterochromatin, a specific chromatin structure essential for genomic stability and regulation, rely on intricate interactions between chromatin-modifying enzymes and nucleosomal histone proteins. However, the precise trigger for these modifications remains unclear, thus highlighting the need for a deeper understanding of how methyltransferases facilitate histone methylation among others. Here, we investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying heterochromatin assembly by studying the interaction between the H3K9 methyltransferase Clr4 and H3K9-methylated nucleosomes.

Development, piloting and evaluation of an app-supported psychosocial prevention intervention to strengthen participation in working life: a study protocol of a mixed-methods approach.

Introduction: Rates of incapacity to work due to mental disorders have increased in many European countries. The consequences of persistent stress can impact individuals' physical and psychological well-being and gradually develop into chronic stress. Mental disorders or symptoms of burn-out syndrome can have severe consequences.

Assignment of individual structures from intermetalloid nickel gallium cluster ensembles.

Poorly selective mixed-metal cluster synthesis and separation yield reaction solutions of inseparable intermetalloid cluster mixtures, which are often discarded. High-resolution mass spectrometry, however, can provide precise compositional data of such product mixtures. Structure assignments can be achieved by advanced computational screening and consideration of the complete structural space.

Antinuclear antibody-associated autoimmune cytopenia in childhood is a risk factor for systemic lupus erythematosus.

Autoimmune cytopenia (AIC) in children may be associated with positive antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and may progress to systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). We evaluated the risk of progression to SLE of childhood-onset ANA-associated AIC. In the French national prospective OBS'CEREVANCE cohort, the long-term outcome of children with ANA-associated AIC (ANA titer ≥1/160) and a subgroup of children who developed SLE were described.

Application Experiences on a GPU-Accelerated Arm-based HPC Testbed.

This paper assesses and reports the experience of ten teams working to port, validate, and benchmark several High Performance Computing applications on a novel GPU-accelerated Arm testbed system. The testbed consists of eight NVIDIA Arm HPC Developer Kit systems, each one equipped with a server-class Arm CPU from Ampere Computing and two data center GPUs from NVIDIA Corp. The systems are connected together using InfiniBand interconnect.
