HERACLIS-TAF: a multi-centre prospective cohort study on 2-year safety and efficacy of tenofovir alafenamide in patients with chronic hepatitis B with renal and/or bone disorders or risks.

Background: Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF) has exhibited a favourable safety profile on estimated glomerular filtration (eGFR) and bone mineral density (BMD), but has not been extensively studied in patients with renal impairment and/or BMD disorders.

Aims: To assess predictors of eGFR changes and other safety and efficacy outcomes during 24-month TAF therapy in patients with chronic hepatitis B with renal and/or BMD disorders/risks.

Methods: Adult patients who started TAF at 13 clinics throughout Greece were prospectively included.

Substitution treatment or active intravenous drug use should not be contraindications for antiviral treatment in drug users with chronic hepatitis C.

Introduction And Aims: International guidelines and routine clinical practice express concerns about antiviral treatment in intravenous drug users (IDUs). We analysed the effect of IDU and/or substitution therapy on chronic hepatitis C (CHC) treatment adherence and response.

Patients And Methods: Intravenous drug users with CHC were divided into three groups: (A) patients on a substitution programme; (B) active users; and (C) past IDUs.

Extensive psoriasis induced by pegylated interferon alpha-2b treatment for chronic hepatitis B.

A 32-year-old man with chronic hepatitis B who was treated with pegylated interferon alpha-2b once a week, developed widespread psoriasis 4 weeks after the beginning of the treatment. There was no history of psoriasis. The treatment was stopped and gradually the eruption vanished.
