Nasal spray treatments that inhibit the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) entry into nose and nasopharynx at early stages can be an appropriate approach to stop or delay the progression of the disease. We performed a prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel-group, multicentric, phase II clinical trial comparing the rate of hospitalization due to COVID-19 infection between azelastine 0.1% nasal spray and placebo nasal spray treatment groups.

These events place a clinical burden on the patient, such as increased morbidity and reduced quality of life, in addition to an economic burden on the hospital system. Fall prevention strategies have the opportunity to decrease inpatient health care costs and length of stay.

We hypothesized that teaching children about heart-healthy habits would increase their activity levels and improve their desire to be active.
Methods: This was a longitudinal survey study.
There are currently 1.8 million people in Germany affected by dementia. Despite advances in research and new treatments, there is no cure for most cases of dementia.

Currently, there is no standardized assessment tool for frailty used in CR. The aim of this study was to determine if the Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) is feasible for assessing frailty in CR.

The main aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of sarcopenia and quantify the functional capacity of older sarcopenic and non-sarcopenic patients participating in iCR.
Methods: Prospective, observational cohort study within the framework of the ongoing multicenter prehabilitation study "PRECOVERY".

The phase behavior of block copolymers (BCPs) at the water-oil interface is influenced by the segmental interaction parameter ( ) and chain architecture. We synthesized a series of star block copolymers (s-BCPs) having polystyrene (PS) as core and poly(2-vinylpyridine) (P2VP) as corona. The interaction parameters of block-block ( ) and block-solvent ( ) were varied by adjusting the pH of the aqueous solution.

Especially older and multimorbid patients benefit from rehabilitation after a cardiac procedure. Prehabilitation prior to cardiac procedures may also have positive effects on patients' pre- and postoperative outcomes.

The current study was a randomized, parallel, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Ninety SARS-CoV-2 positive patients were randomized into 3 groups receiving placebo, 0.

This is important to guide development of novel surfactants or amphiphiles for chemical transformations and separations. The star block copolymer consisted of arms that are comprised of hydrophilic-hydrophobic block copolymers that are covalently tethered the hydrophobic blocks to one point.

Design: Eligible nonrandomized/randomized controlled studies investigating the impact of exercise-based prehabilitation in adults scheduled for elective cardiac surgery were searched on December 16, 2020, from electronic databases, including MEDLINE, CENTRAL, and CINAHL. The data were pooled and a meta-analysis was conducted.
Purpose: To describe the clinical course and microbial properties of the first two reported cases of nutritionally variant Streptococci ( and ) endophthalmitis following intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor injection (IVI).
Observations: A 74 year-old female developed endophthalmitis following IVI. The patient underwent a pars plana vitrectomy and visual acuity recovered to 20/30 in six weeks.
Objective: To determine the impact of an exercise-based prehabilitation (EBPrehab) program on pre- and postoperative exercise capacity, functional capacity (FC) and quality of life (QoL) in patients awaiting elective coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG).
Design: A two-group randomized controlled trail.
Setting: Ambulatory prehabilitation.
Background: Terrorism belongs to the extreme forms of violence that have so far received little attention in psychiatric research and are rarely mentioned in textbooks of psychiatry. After terror attacks, however, the question regularly arises whether terrorists suffer from mental disorders.
Objective And Methods: The aim of this review is to summarize the multidimensional causes of terrorism with special emphasis on psychopathological aspects of the perpetrators.
Duplicate and deceptive subjects, a significant issue in CNS studies, are not often considered in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) clinical trials. However, AD patients and their study partners may be motivated to take advantage of different mechanisms of action, increase odds of receiving active treatment, and/or obtain financial compensation, which may lead them to participate in multiple studies. CTSdatabase reviewed memory loss subjects (n=1087) from January 2017 through May 2019 to determine how many attempted to screen at multiple sites.

The aim of this pilot study was to analyze changes in markers of bone metabolism in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism (sHPT) after PTX and to correlate these markers with bone pain measured with a validated questionnaire.
Materials And Methods: All patients who underwent PTX for sHPT between March 2010 and February 2012 at out institution were included in this prospective observational pilot study.
Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) is an aggressive cancer with poor prognosis. Systemic chemotherapy is the primary treatment modality for the majority of patients. VEGF plays a key mitogen for MPM cells physiopathology.

The prescription of opioid analgesics by dental professionals is widespread in the United States. Policy makers, government agencies, and professional organizations consider this phenomenon a growing public health concern. This study examined trends in the prescription of opioid analgesics for adults by dental professionals and associated factors in the United States.

Methods: The US Medical Expenditure Panel Survey data for 1996-2013 was analyzed. Information on patient sociodemographic characteristics, dental visits, receipt of dental procedures, and type of antibiotics prescribed following visits was obtained.
Despite recent advances in metastatic lung cancer treatment with the advent of immune checkpoint inhibitors and molecules targeting addictive genomic abnormalities, prognosis of most of the patients remains unfavorable. Combination approaches with older drugs, such as bevacizumab, should be thus envisioned. Bevacizumab is a monoclonal anti-VEGF antibody, approved by the US FDA and the EMA in first-line and maintenance settings of advanced nonsquamous non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treatment, in association with platinum-based chemotherapy.

Pregnancy induces a state of immune tolerance, which can result in spontaneous improvement of clinical symptoms of certain autoimmune diseases including autoimmune hepatitis (AIH). We investigated the immune-suppressive mechanisms of the human pregnancy hormone, chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), in the liver.

To uncover the pathways involved, we performed a cell-type-specific screen for transcripts persistently altered during scaling, which identified the μ subunit (μ3A) of the adaptor protein complex AP-3A. Synaptic scaling increased μ3A (but not other AP-3 subunits) in pyramidal neurons and redistributed dendritic μ3A and AMPAR to recycling endosomes (REs).
