For a comparison of the interaction modes of various chalcogen-bond donors, 2-chalcogeno-imidazolium salts have been designed, synthesized, and studied by single crystal X-ray diffraction, solution NMR and DFT as well as for their ability to act as activators in an S1-type substitution reaction. Their interaction modes in solution were elucidated based on NMR diffusion and chemical shift perturbation experiments, which were supported by DFT-calculations. Our finding is that going from lighter to the heavier chalcogens, hydrogen bonding plays a less, while chalcogen bonding an increasingly important role for the coordination of anions.

The use of the bis(1-piperidinyl)-substituted carbodiphosphorane (Ph(Pip)P)C () as an NCN ligand for the stabilization of phosphorus cations was studied. A simple ligand for halide exchange allowed the synthesis and isolation of a series of phosphorus monocations of the type [-PR] (with R = Cl, Br, I, CyCl, Ph). These cations exhibit characteristic NMR and structural properties which nicely correlate with the charge at the central phosphorus atom and the interaction between the ligand and the PR moiety.

Materials And Methods: Five sites prospectively enrolled 30 patients requiring a tunneled dialysis catheter between February 2017 and September 2018 in the SAVE (Surfacer System to Facilitate Access in Venous Obstructions) registry. Patient demographics, medical history, and type of TCVO were documented at enrollment.

In the last decade several methods for structure alignment were introduced, but most of them ignore that structurally similar proteins can share the same spatial arrangement of secondary structure elements (SSE) but differ in the underlying polypeptide chain connectivity (non-sequential SSE connectivity).
Results: We perform protein-structure alignment using a two-level hierarchical approach implemented in the program GANGSTA.
Isoguanine tetraplexes and pentaplexes contain two or more stacked polyads with intercalating metal ions. We report here the results of a density functional study of sandwiched isoguanine tetrad and pentad complexes consisting of two polyads with Na(+), K(+) and Rb(+) ions at the B3LYP level. In comparison to single polyad metal ion complexes, there is a trend towards increased non-planarity of the polyads in the sandwich complexes.
