Remote monitoring, now an integral component of patient care, places considerable administrative burdens on clinicians and staff, in large part due to the challenge of integrating these data seamlessly into electronic health records. The development of computational models for the prediction of cardiac cellular dynamics remains a challenge due to the lack of first-principled mathematical models. We develop a novel machine-learning approach hybridizing physics simulation and graph networks to deliver robust predictions of cardiomyocyte dynamics. Embedded with inductive physical priors, the proposed constraint-based interaction neural projection (CINP) algorithm can uncover hidden physical constraints from sparse image data on a small set of beating cardiac cells and provide robust predictions for heterogenous large-scale cell sets.

Sclerosing mucoepidermoid carcinoma (SMEC) of the salivary glands is a rare variant of low-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma with scanty cellular atypia characterized by marked fibrosis/sclerosis and a rich inflammatory infiltrate. Herein, we report 25 unpublished cases of SMEC, two of them with prominent eosinophilia (2/25; 8%) and three with abundant IgG4-positive plasma cells (3/25; 12%). In our series of salivary SMEC, molecular analysis using fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and/or next-generation sequencing (NGS) provided evidence of MAML2 gene rearrangement in 18 cases of the 21 analyzable cases tested (86%), while this gene locus was intact in 3 cases (14%).

Our study develops a generative adversarial network (GAN)-based method that generates faithful synthetic image data of human cardiomyocytes at varying stages in their maturation process, as a tool to significantly enhance the classification accuracy of cells and ultimately assist the throughput of computational analysis of cellular structure and functions. Human induced pluripotent stem cell derived cardiomyocytes (hiPSC-CMs) were cultured on micropatterned collagen coated hydrogels of physiological stiffnesses to facilitate maturation and optical measurements were performed for their structural and functional analyses. Control groups were cultured on collagen coated glass well plates.

Predicting aging trajectories through biomarkers of biological aging can guide interventions that optimize healthy lifespan in humans and companion animals. Differences in physiology, genetics, nutrition, and lifestyle limit the generalization of such biomarkers and may therefore require species-specific algorithms. Here, we compared correlations of standard clinical blood parameters with survival probability in humans with those of the two most common mammalian companion animals, cats and dogs, and highlighted universal and species-specific relationships.

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (AdCC) is one of the most common salivary gland malignancies and occurs in all major and minor salivary gland and seromucous gland sites. AdCCs of salivary gland origin have long been categorized as fusion-defined carcinomas owing to the almost consistent presence of fusion genes MYB::NFIB, or less commonly MYBL1::NFIB. Epoxy composites with excellent thermal properties are highly promising for thermal management applications in modern electronic devices. In this work, we report the enhancement of the thermal conductivity of two different nanocomposites, using epoxy resins LY564 (epoxy 1) and LY5052 (epoxy 2), by incorporating multiwalled boron nitride nanotubes (BNNT) and boron nitride nanosheets (BNNS) as fillers. The synergistic interaction between the 1D BNNT and 2D BNNS allows for improved thermal conductivity several different mechanisms.

Myoepithelial neoplasms of the skin and soft tissue still represent a confusing and somewhat controversial field in pathology as it appears that this category includes several different entities. However, recent studies have suggested that both apocrine mixed tumors (AMT) and cutaneous myoepitheliomas (CM) harbor identical chromosomal rearrangements involving the PLAG1 gene and hence may represent a morphological spectrum. Alterations in kinase genes such as NTRK1/2/3, RET, and BRAF underlie infantile fibrosarcoma (IFS), the emerging entity 'NTRK-rearranged spindle cell neoplasms' included in the latest WHO classification, and a growing set of tumors with overlapping clinical and pathological features. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive clinicopathological and molecular analysis of 22 cases of IFS and other kinase gene-altered spindle cell neoplasms affecting both pediatric and adult patients. Emerging science shows that probiotic intake may impact stress and mental health. We investigated the effect of a 6-week intervention with (1 × 10 CFU/daily) on stress-related psychological and physiological parameters in 45 healthy adults with mild-to-moderate stress using a randomized, placebo-controlled, two-arm, parallel, double-blind design. The main results showed that supplementation with the probiotic significantly reduced the perceived stress and improved the subjective sleep quality score compared to placebo.
