Article Synopsis
  • Anisakiasis, caused by Anisakis spp. larvae from fish, poses diagnostic challenges, particularly in identifying low quantities of the pathogen in biopsies; this study aimed to identify new cases and assess patients' immune responses.
  • Three patients' parasite DNA was extracted, with two cases positively identified as A. pegreffii using sequence analysis, while Real-time PCR confirmed the presence of the pathogen in all cases; immune response was evaluated through Immunoblotting.
  • The study found Real-time PCR to be a sensitive and effective method for identifying Anisakis in patients, highlighting significant immune reactivity in the cases analyzed.

Article Synopsis
  • * Out of 1,335 patients, DGT was successfully used in 121 cases, achieving a high success rate of 96.7% for deep biliary cannulation and a low complication rate of 2.6% post ERCP pancreatitis.
  • * The findings suggest that DGT is a safe and effective method for challenging biliary cannulation, potentially reducing the need for more invasive procedures like precut papillotomy, especially when performed by experienced practitioners.

Transoesophageal echocardiography, which is a semi-invasive investigation increasingly used in cardiology and cardiac surgery and intensive care units, is a rare though extremely dangerous cause of such complications. Perforation of the esophagus continues to present a formidable diagnostic and therapeutic challenge.
