Introduction: To facilitate the implementation of controlled donation after circulatory death (cDCD) programs even in hospitals not equipped with a local extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) team, some countries have launched a local cDCD network with an ECMO mobile team for normothermic regional perfusion (NRP). In the Tuscany region, in 2021, the Regional Transplant Authority launched a cDCD program to make the cDCD pathway feasible even in peripheral hospitals with NRP mobile teams, which were "converted" existing ECMO mobile teams, composed of highly skilled and experienced personnel.

Methods: We describe the Tuscany cDCD program, (2021-2023), for cDCD from peripheral hospitals with NRP mobile teams.

Background: In Italy, 20 min of continuous, flat-line electrocardiogram are required for death declaration. Despite prolonged warm ischemia time, Italian centers reported good outcomes in controlled donation after circulatory death (cDCD) liver transplantation by combining normothermic regional and end-ischemic machine perfusion (MP). The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and feasibility of the use of septuagenarian and octogenarian cDCD donors with this approach.

Schnitzler syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by monoclonal IgM gammopathy, urticaria, recurrent fever, evidence of inflammation, bone pain, and arthralgia. We present the case of a patient affected by Schnitzler syndrome who developed Della Valle type C heterotopic ossification after total hip arthroplasty. A relationship between the underlying syndrome and the considerable heterotopic ossification observed is compatible with the patient's clinical history and incidental findings.
