Objectives: Search filters can support qualitative evidence of information retrieval. Various search filters are available for the bibliographic databases PsycINFO and CINAHL. To date, no comparative overview of validation results of search filters verified with an independent gold standard exists.

The objective of this study was to provide a comparative overview of validation results for various MEDLINE search filters.
Study Design And Setting: Search filters were tested for plausibility.
Clinical Question: Is the use of ivermectin in patients infested with scabies associated with improved clinical and safety outcomes compared with permethrin?
Bottom Line: Both ivermectin and permethrin treatment were associated with high clearance rates. There is low-certainty evidence that ivermectin was associated with slightly lower rates of complete clearance after 1 week compared with permethrin, 5%, cream (relative risk [RR], 0.65; 95% CI, 0.
Background: Scabies is an intensely itchy parasitic infection of the skin. It occurs worldwide, but is particularly problematic in areas of poor sanitation, overcrowding, and social disruption. In recent years, permethrin and ivermectin have become the most relevant treatment options for scabies.

Methods: We performed a systematic literature research covering MEDLINE, Embase and CENTRAL.
Background: Scabies is a contagious infestation transmitted by skin-to-skin contact and sometimes by contact with contaminated material. The scabies mite burrows into the skin, producing a papular rash and severe itch at typical sites of predilection.
Methods: We systematically reviewed the literature to compare the efficacy of various anti-scabies agents, including a calculation of relative risks and confidence intervals.
After cessation of successful initial acne therapy, patients often experience flares. Consecutive maintenance treatment after successful induction therapy is promoted by guidelines; however, little is known about the efficacy/safety of different maintenance regimens. A systematic review on acne maintenance treatments was conducted.

Objectives: To assess the efficacy and safety of topical treatments for scalp psoriasis.
Psoriasis as a chronic inflammatory disease often requires effective long-term treatment; a comprehensive systematic evaluation of efficacy and safety of systemic long-term treatments in patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis is lacking. Twenty-five randomized clinical trials were included. Results were pooled and quality of evidence was assessed using GRADE (Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation).

For approval, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) considers indirect evidence from other indications (for example, rheumatoid arthritis) as sufficient.

New technical devices such as software for online conferences may help to reduce time and financial efforts of guidelines development. The present survey may serve as an explorative pilot for a future study to determine the technical feasibility, acceptability and possible weaknesses of online consensus conferences for clinical guidelines development.

So far, there has been little standardization in the wording of guideline recommendations. It would be important to know how certain terms are understood by guideline users.

Purpose: Physicians' self-estimates of their own prescription behavior can be used as a tool to gather information on prescription frequencies. Self-estimates as a tool for health-care research on prescription frequencies need to be validated as a suitable method before it can be used widely.
Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study inviting all dermatologists in Berlin and Brandenburg to give self-estimates of their own prescription behavior of anti-psoriatic drugs.
The time necessary for a treatment to become effective is crucial for patients and physicians but has been largely neglected in the reporting and comparison of clinical trials in dermatology. The aim of this systematic review is to determine the time until the onset of action (TOA) of systemic agents approved for moderate-to-severe psoriasis. Primary outcome is the TOA defined as the weighted mean time until 25% of the patients achieved a psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) 75 response.

Methods: We performed a cross-sectional study on the perioperative management of APD and VKA in dermatological private practices and clinics in Germany, using anonymized, standardized questionnaires.
Results: 233 responses were evaluated (response rate 37 %).

The development of guidelines almost always requires considerable time and financial resources. An important task is therefore to identify and evaluate online methods that facilitate guideline work. ONLINE CONSENSUS CONFERENCE: During the development of the S2k guideline for the management of staphylococcus aureus infections an online consensus conference was held using an online tool provided by the Deutsche Forschungsnetz in combination with a telephone conference.
