Childhood maltreatment has been linked to adult somatic symptoms, although this has rarely been examined in daily life. Furthermore, the localization of somatization associated with childhood maltreatment and its subtypes is unknown. This large-scale experience sampling study used body maps to examine the relationships between childhood maltreatment, its subtypes, and the intensity and location of negative somatic sensations in daily life.

Recent research has identified several underlying psychological and biological pathways that explain these benefits. However, there is not yet consensus on the underlying overlapping physiological mechanisms of contemplative practice benefits.

The aim of the current study was to assess the impact of stress, dysregulated eating and social genomic biomarkers on cardiometabolic risk factors among the original participants now in midlife and their children.
Participants: Beginning in 1987-1988, NGHS recruited black and white girls (age 9-10 years) from socioeconomically diverse backgrounds from from three sites: Cincinnati, Ohio; Washington, DC; and Western Contra Costa County, California (N=2379) and followed them for 10 years.
Krukenberg tumors are metastatic tumors of the ovaries, associated with poor outcomes. Most commonly, these tumors are of gastric origin. The diagnosis of Krukenberg tumors in pregnant patients is extremely rare and poses specific difficulties for clinicians.

An understanding of altered maternal physiology, fetal considerations, and acute peripartum emergencies is required to ensure adequate maternal and neonatal outcomes. In this study, we analyzed data of peripartum maternal admissions to the intensive care unit at our large tertiary referral center in order to define trends and changes over time.

There has been little effort to ground field friendly cortisol measures in the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis regulatory biology that is likely relevant to delineating mechanistic pathways leading from stress exposure to detrimental health outcomes. Here, we utilized a healthy convenience sample (n = 140) to examine normal linkages between extensively collected salivary cortisol measures and available laboratory probes of HPA axis regulatory biology.

For farmers, higher SOC levels have multiple benefits, including increased soil fertility and resilience against drought-related yield losses. However, increasing SOC levels requires agricultural management changes that are associated with costs.

Furthermore, timing of maternal stressors has rarely been examined. Here, we examined how maternal stressors occurring during adolescence, pregnancy, and across the lifespan related to child TL in Black and White mothers.

The WHO classifies this tumor into subtypes according to the predominant growth pattern such as lepidic, acinar, papillary, solid or micropapillary, each harboring specific molecular features. NSCLC adenocarcinoma heterogeneity is discussed to be a reason for therapy failure using targeted therapy or immune checkpoint inhibitors.

This study examined whether the link between cortisol and subjective anxiety varied by childhood maltreatment history. To do this, 97 individuals (60.

Cabozantinib (CAB), a tyrosine kinase inhibitor, has emerged as a new potential treatment. However, no data are available on whether and how CAB can be administered to patients undergoing hemodialysis.

This study examined whether daily psychological stress processes - how an individual interprets and affectively responds to minor everyday events - mediate the effect of CT on adult depressive symptoms.

Cognitive vulnerability to stress-induced cortisol may explain risk and resilience. The current study aimed to elucidate a psychobiological pathway linking stress to altered memory for affective words among youth with and without exposure to ELS.

Despite the usage of specific sampling tubes, archived plasma samples as well as inappropriately treated blood samples still cause a loss of information due to cell lysis and contamination with cellular DNA. Our aim was to establish a reliable protocol to rescue ctDNA from such non-informative samples to monitor the mutational landscape in NSCLC.

Comparisons across studies are complicated by variation in co-morbidity (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder-PTSD, anxiety disorders), exposure to trauma, and timing of trauma (child vs. adult).

We therefore performed a bioassay-guided fractionation including high-performance counter current chromatography (HPCCC) and antibacterial tests using Mycobacterium smegmatis mc2 155. One obtained fraction was found to be antimycobacterially active with a MIC of 64 mg L-1.

Stress exposure during childhood and adulthood has been cross-sectionally linked with shorter telomere length. However, few longitudinal studies have examined telomere length attrition over time, and none have investigated how stressor duration (acute life events vs.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Stress plays a causal role in depression onset, perhaps via alteration of hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis functioning. HPA axis hyperactivity has been reported in depression, though inconsistently, and the nature of this relationship remains unclear, partly because cortisol measurement over time has been challenging. Development of hair cortisol assessment, a method that captures cortisol over prolonged periods of time, creates new possibilities.

This is in part because "stress" is not a monolithic concept but rather, an emergent process that involves interactions between individual and environmental factors, historical and current events, allostatic states, and psychological and physiological reactivity. Many of these processes alone have been labeled as "stress.

There is a growing realization that cognitive processes associated with stress coping, such as rumination and distraction, can impact the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-axis (HPA-axis). Yet, little is known about what aspects of the HPA-axis stress response (rate of activation, duration of activation, rate of recovery) is impacted by such cognitive processes. This study examines the impact of both ruminative trait tendencies and experimentally induced rumination on salivary cortisol responses to a social evaluative stress task.

The current study investigated whether the link between depressive symptomatology and CAR varied as a function of two such factors: sleep and gender.
