Surgical wound analgesia has been analyzed in many studies, but few have focused on its relationship with inflammatory markers. As such, we aimed to determine the influence of analgesic surgical wound infiltration in open colorectal surgery on the seric levels of pro- and anti-inflammatory markers and the associated efficacy in postoperative pain control. Forty patients who underwent open colorectal surgery were prospectively randomized: group 0, epidural analgesia; group 1, intravenous analgesia (control), group 2, preincision and prelaparoraphy infiltration; and, group 3, prelaparoraphy infiltration.

: The diagnosis of cholesteatoma is usually clinic, and the only efficient treatment is surgical. High-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) is not considered absolutely necessary for the management of an uncomplicated cholesteatoma, but unsuspected situations from a clinical point of view can be discovered using the scans, warning the surgeon. Our objective is to compare HRCT scan information with intraoperative findings in patients with cholesteatoma and analyze the usefulness of a preoperative HRCT scan from a surgical point of view.

The aim of our study is to determine whether there is a clinically important difference between the femoral and the radial site of blood pressure measurements, and to identify whether the vasoactive infusion dose influences the femoral-to-radial mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) gradient. We included 71 patients with sepsis and septic shock, with no comorbidities that may influence the hemodynamic parameters. Simultaneous measurements were registered at the femoral and radial arteries.

We describe a case of nasal type T-cell NHL involving the nasal cavity and determining right thigh cutaneous metastases in a 47-year-old female associated with liver comorbidities and occupational dust exposure.

From this point of view, the present work is a key to determining the pharmacotoxicological profile of the HY-EDS, in long-term administration.
