Hyperammonaemic encephalopathy in the absence of liver failure is a major diagnostic challenge. A rare cause is as a complication to previous gastric bypass surgery, a condition reported to be associated with high mortality. In this case report, we present the exhaustive diagnostic work-up and clinical reversal of deep and recurrent hyperammonaemic encephalopathy in a patient with previous gastric bypass surgery.

The electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction reaction (eCORR) using nitrogen-doped carbon (N-C) materials offers a promising and cost-effective approach to global carbon neutrality. Regulating the porosity of N-C materials can potentially increase the catalytic performance by suppressing the concurrence of the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Aims: Sodium glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibition lowers glucose levels independently of insulin, leading to reduced insulin secretion and increased lipolysis, resulting in elevated circulating free fatty acids (FFAs). While SGLT2 inhibition improves tissue insulin sensitivity, the increase in circulating FFAs could reduce insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle and the liver. Noradrenaline (NA) regulates cold-stimulated adipocyte thermogenesis. Aside from cAMP signalling downstream of β-adrenergic receptor activation, how NA promotes thermogenic output is still not fully understood. We report the use of electrogenerated anthraquinone radical anion (AQ•) to trigger fast catalytic depolymerization of polymers derived from poly(dithiothreitol) (pDTT)-a self-immolative polymer (SIP) with a backbone of dithiothreitols connected with disulfide bonds and end-capped via disulfide bonds to pyridyl groups. The pDTT derivatives studied include polymers with simple thiohexyl end-caps or modified with AQ or methyl groups by Steglich esterification. The landscape of circular RNAs (circRNAs), an important class of non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression, has never been described in human disorders of sex chromosome aneuploidies. We profiled circRNAs in Turner syndrome females (45,X; TS) and Klinefelter syndrome males (47,XXY; KS) to investigate how circRNAs respond to a missing or an extra X chromosome. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is associated with impaired skeletal muscle function and degeneration of the skeletal muscles.
