Predictions of adolescents' responses to the Youth Self-Report from parental attachment interviews collected during pregnancy: a 17-year longitudinal study.

This study investigated the influence of parents' Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) responses prior to the birth of a first child, on self-reported mental health symptoms of the first-born child in mid-adolescence. The sample comprised 51 first-born children aged 16 years, their mothers and fathers from a low-risk community urban sample, White, British and 70% middle class. Mothers' responses to the AAI were the strongest predictor of their adolescent children's self-reported mental health symptoms.

Attachment and body representations in adolescents with personality disorder.

Background: Attachment theory has served as an influential framework for understanding psychopathology, partly due to reliable assessment methodology. The influence of insecure attachment on attitudes toward the body and the impact this might have for the development of psychopathology is however less well elucidated.

Method: A total of 123 adolescents (35 with borderline personality disorder or BPD, 25 with other personality disorders [OPD] and 63 comprising a normative control group) were interviewed with the Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) and the Mirror Interview (MI).

As a result, desialylation of the tumour cell surface using either targeted delivery of a pan-ST inhibitor (or sialidase) or systemic delivery of a non-toxic selective ST inhibitors are being pursued as potential new anti-metastatic strategies against multiple cancers including pancreatic, ovarian, breast, melanoma and lung cancer.

Configurations of mother-child and father-child attachment relationships as predictors of child language competence: An individual participant data meta-analysis.

An individual participant data meta-analysis was conducted to test pre-registered hypotheses about how the configuration of attachment relationships to mothers and fathers predicts children's language competence. Data from seven studies (published between 1985 and 2014) including 719 children (M : 19.84 months; 51% female; 87% White) were included in the linear mixed effects analyses.

On the risks of secure attachment in infancy: Childhood irritability and adolescent depression predicted by secure attachment and high approach behaviours at 14-months towards a caregiver living with inter-parental violence.

Introduction: The secure infant turns to a caregiver for comfort when distressed or threatened. Does this level of openness create vulnerability where the caregiver is unsupportive or aggressive? In this study we examined prospectively whether secure attachment in infancy, and approach behaviours on reunion with a parent, were associated with childhood emotional dysregulation (irritability) and adolescent depression among children exposed to inter-parental violence.

Methods: We followed 219 families recruited from the general population during pregnancy (members of the Wirral Child Health and Development Study; WCHADS), with attachment assessments (Strange Situation Procedure; SSP) at 14 months, maternal interviews about inter-parental violence at 2.

Multiomics approach to profiling Sertoli cell maturation during development of the spermatogonial stem cell niche.

Spermatogonial stem cells (SSCs) are the basis of spermatogenesis, a complex process supported by a specialized microenvironment, called the SSC niche. Postnatal development of SSCs is characterized by distinct metabolic transitions from prepubertal to adult stages. An understanding of the niche factors that regulate these maturational events is critical for the clinical application of SSCs in fertility preservation.

Atomistic simulation of helium diffusion and clustering in plutonium dioxide.

This study uses molecular dynamics and barrier searching methods to investigate the diffusion and clustering of helium in plutonium dioxide. Such fundamental understanding of helium behaviour is required because radiogenic helium generated from the alpha decay of Pu nuclei can accumulate over time and storage of spent nuclear fuel needs to be safe and secure. The results show that in perfect PuO, interstitial He is not mobile over nanosecond time scales at temperatures below 1500 K with the lowest diffusion barrier being 2.

The development of fidelity and quality measures for the dissemination of evidence-based practices is an often-neglected, vital step in the implementation of psychological interventions, especially within parent-infant mental health. The current study aims to address this gap by developing a competency-based measure for clinicians delivering the Group Attachment Based Intervention (GABI). GABI is an intervention aimed at supporting family preservation in parents who have experienced disparities across multiple systems of care.

Accommodation of helium in PuO and the role of americium.

The high alpha-activity of plutonium dioxide (PuO) results in significant ingrowth of radiogenic helium (He) in the aged material. To safely store/dispose PuO or use in applications such as space exploration, the impact of He accumulation needs to be understood. In this work, defect energies obtained using a density functional theory (DFT) + + D3 scheme are used in a point defect model constructed for PuO to predict the method of He incorporation within the PuO lattice.

A society that values it's children should cherish their parents: A move to considering the attachment network.

This comment on the Special Issue contributions regarding the attachment network addresses the clinical implications of the findings from three perspectives: (1) the need to look beyond maternal influences on child developmental outcomes; (2) to be open to every seemingly peripheral influence on the child as this may have a central impact on the child, for example, grandmothers, the parental couple relationship, and others not living in the child's home but nonetheless influential; and (3) identify and cultivate security spreading effects that help change not only the child, but the child's relationships with others in and outside the family-to the benefit of all. Some evidence-based attachment-based interventions are highlighted.

Video Intervention Therapy for primary caregivers in a child psychiatry unit: a randomized feasibility trial.

Background: During child psychiatry hospitalization, working with the families or attachment figures is a challenge, most of the children who are admitted to these units come from multi-problem families, with limited research in this area. Video feedback (VF) interventions have proved to be a powerful resource to promote parental and child well-being in small children and has been used with parents with a psychiatric condition. Parental Reflective Functioning (PRF) is one of the parental abilities that can be improved with VF and could be especially important in coping with conflict and negative emotions in older children.
