Living with Dementia in Aotearoa (LiDiA): a cross-sectional feasibility study protocol for a multiethnic dementia prevalence study in Aotearoa/New Zealand.

Introduction: Aotearoa/New Zealand (NZ) is officially recognised as a bicultural country composed of Māori and non-Māori. Recent estimations have projected a threefold increase in dementia prevalence in NZ by 2050, with the greatest increase in non-NZ-Europeans. The NZ government will need to develop policies and plan services to meet the demands of the rapid rise in dementia cases.

Part II: using an integrated case model for delivering mental health services in general practice for Pacific people.

Objective: To discuss an alternative model for delivering mental health services to Pacific people in general practice.

Methods: Review of primary healthcare models which attempt to integrate behavioural healthcare with general practice.

Results: There is some evidence that relationship-based collaborative models may improve both mental and physical health.

Pacific models of mental health service delivery in New Zealand: Part I: What do we know about Pacific mental health in New Zealand? A narrative review.

Objective: To update measures of mental disorders and service use in Pacific people living in New Zealand.

Method: A narrative review was conducted of available data on the prevalence of mental disorder, psychotropic drug prescribing and service use by Pacific people.

Results: The 12-month prevalence of mental disorders in Pacific people was similar to European/Other in 2004.

Appreciative Inquiry in Psychiatry Peer Groups.

Objective: The purpose of the study was to explore the feasibility of using appreciative inquiry in a peer group of psychiatry residents.

Methods: A peer coaching exercise using appreciative inquiry was modeled to a group of psychiatry residents who practised the approach. The topics discussed in separate sessions 1 month apart were values and identity as a psychiatrist, dealing with conflict and working within the psychiatric system.
