Background: Article 115 of the Swiss Penal Code (StGB) permits physician-assisted dying (PAD), provided it is not performed for "selfish reasons," and thus, occupies a special role in international comparison. However, the Swiss federal law does not regulate who exactly is entitled to access PAD, and there is no universal agreement in the concerned professional societies. Additional uncertainty arises when assessing the wish for PAD of a mentally ill person compared to a somatically ill person.

Objectives: To describe progressive corneal microcyst-like epithelial changes (MECs) that developed in patients treated with the investigational drug belantamab mafodotin (belamaf) for refractory multiple myeloma (MM).

Methods: This is a single center case series of patients with MM receiving the investigational drug belamaf.

Results: All 12 patients included in this analysis who were treated with belamaf developed MECs that initially appeared in the peripheral cornea and progressed centrally with time.

Background: Evaluation of digital health applications to support older adults' independence and family caregiving is needed. Digital health is increasingly providing opportunities for older adults and their family caregivers to educate, engage, and share health information across digital platforms. Few apps have documented evidence of usability by older adults and their caregivers.

Shape memory polymers (SMPs) are stimuli-responsive materials, which are able to retain an imposed, temporary shape and recover the initial, permanent shape through an external stimulus like heat. In this work, a novel manufacturing method is introduced for thermoresponsive quick response (QR) code carriers, which originally were developed as anticounterfeiting technology. Motivated by the fact that earlier manufacturing processes were sometimes too time-consuming for production, filaments of a polyester urethane (PEU) with and without dye were extruded and processed into QR code carriers using fused filament fabrication (FFF).

The aim of this retrospective study was to investigate the clinical outcome of Dalbo®-Rotex® retention elements in a private practice. The majority of the retention elements was fixed with self-adhesive composite cement, and in almost 40% the exposed root surface was additionally covered with composite. The success rate of 96.

Observational studies are essential for ensuring patient safety, decreasing complications, and developing better surgical techniques and implants. The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate the safety and efficacy of Sebbin breast implants in both augmentation and reconstruction cohorts. This prospective, multicenter, observational 10-year study conducted in France included 205 patients (385 implants) who underwent breast augmentation (n = 166) or reconstruction (n = 39) with Sebbin round silicone gel implants.

Objectives: To improve assessment and documentation of function, cognition, and advance care planning (ACP) in admission and discharge notes on an Acute Care of the Elderly (ACE) unit.

Design: Continuous quality improvement intervention with episodic data review.

Setting: ACE unit of an 866-bed academic tertiary hospital.

The authors report of their experience of mammary augmentation with anatomical implants from 10 years ago. The important proportion of rotation of those anatomical implants obliged them to stop the clinical serie. Sylvain Staub return to a "revisited" classical technique with round implants, smooth in a majority of cases and placed them most of the time in a retromuscular pocket.

We have isolated two novel human cDNAs, gps1-1 and gps2, that suppress lethal G-protein subunit-activating mutations in the pheromone response pathway of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Suppression of other pathway-activating events was examined. In wild-type cells, expression of either gps1-1 or gps2 led to enhanced recovery from cell cycle arrest induced by pheromone.

The proto-oncogene c-myc is involved in the stimulation of cell proliferation, and its expression is known to be stimulated by estradiol (E2) in human breast cancer cell lines and various non-cancerous E2-dependent tissues. However, little information is currently available concerning its expression and regulation in normal human breast tissue. We therefore studied c-myc expression and hormone modulation in normal human breast epithelial (HBE) cells in culture, routinely obtained in our laboratory and which remain hormone-dependent.

"The eyebrow fat pad" was described by Charpy in 1909 without raising the interest of plastic surgeons. Over the last 5 years, we have removed this fat in 20% of our cases of superior blepharoplasty. This technique allows a reduction of the thickness of the upper eyelid to a lesser degree than that obtained by bone remodelling.

We have created a series of deletion mutants of a human cardiac cAMP phosphodiesterase in order to define sequences necessary for function and to identify residues required for inhibition by cGMP and by the drugs milrinone and trequinsin. These truncated constructs were expressed in yeast cells, and their biochemical properties were analyzed. The mutations define an amino acid sequence that is essential for function.

The evaluation of 58 breast reconstructions operated in Boucicaut Hospital demonstrated positive result. The authors review the techniques used for contralateral breast symmetrization. The policy generally adapted has been to perform two sequential operations: 1st step: implantation of a prefilled prosthesis and contralateral breast symmetrization; 2d step: reconstruction of areolo-nipple complex and refinement of contralateral breast.

It would appear to be impossible to compare completely different techniques of mammaplasty performed in very different clinical situations. However, we thought it would be useful to approach the result of mammaplasties from a more "orthopaedic" point of view. Such an approach distinguishes populations of patients with different results and in whom the postoperative assessment must take into account the result obtained, the residual scars and the final breast shape.

The elastic and retractile nature of young skin allows glandular reductions to be performed without skin excision for the treatment of mammary hypertrophy in very young girls. These reductions in volume prevent secondary ptosis and stretch marks and are performed via an isolated inframammary incision. The devascularisation induced blocks glandular growth and no recurrence of hypertrophy has been observed in our series of 34 cases with a mean follow-up of 16 months.

A case of cervical obliteration following a chemical burn is reconstructed with 2 fasciocutaneous flaps transposed from the upper chest. The technique is rapid and yields good quality long-term results. It compares favorably with skin grafting and distant flap repair in ease of execution as well as aesthetic and functional results.

Excess skin and insufficient gland are two problems posed by the correction of the small ptotic breast. A single-stage operation can resolve these problems. Our technique used for 20 patients proved satisfactory with a low rate of complications.

A study was conducted to determine whether the incidence of spontaneous abortion was greater than expected near the Three Mile Island (TMI) nuclear power plant during the months following the March 28, 1979 accident. All persons living within five miles of TMI were registered shortly after the accident, and information on pregnancy at the time of the accident was collected. After one year, all pregnancy cases were followed up and outcomes ascertained.
