The perception of tridimensionality is elicited by binocular disparity, motion parallax, and monocular or pictorial cues. The perception of tridimensionality arising from pictorial cues has been investigated in several non-human animal species. Although dogs can use and discriminate bidimensional images, to date there is no evidence of dogs' ability to perceive tridimensionality in pictures and/or through pictorial cues.

Background: Neurogenic tumors are the third most common tumors occurring within the mediastinum. Predominantly completely asymptomatic, they are most often found in the posterior mediastinum, although they may also be located, albeit rarely, in the middle mediastinum. Thus, in the cases of tumors localized in the middle mediastinum, schwannomas of the phrenic nerve must always be considered.

Purpose: Healing of colorectal anastomosis is burdened with a number of risk factors and the development of leak carries with it higher morbidity and mortality associated not only with worse quality of life but also worse oncological outcomes. The purpose of the study was an evaluation of the effect of reinforcement suture in the healing of stapler rectal anastomosis and risk factors for anastomotic leakage in mid, upper rectal and sigmoid tumors.

Methods: A total of 357 patients who underwent curative resection for rectal or sigmoid tumor over 5 years were analyzed.

Introduction: Malrotation is understood as a congenital anomaly of the intestinal position formed during embryonic development. Disorders of intestinal rotation and its manifestations in adulthood are less common; the symptoms of these disorders are characteristic of childhood. An asymptomatic bowel rotation disorder occurs in up to 1 of 200 newborns and symptomatic malrotation occurs in 1 of 6,000 live newborns.

The frequent occurrence of positive for cyclomodulins such as colibactin (CLB), the cytotoxic necrotizing factor (CNF), and the cytolethal distending factor (CDT) in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients published so far provides the opportunity to use them as CRC screening markers. We examined the practicability and performance of a low-cost detection approach that relied on culture followed by simplified DNA extraction and PCR in isolates recovered from 130 CRC patients and 111 controls. Our results showed a statistically significant association between CRC and the presence of colibactin genes and , the gene, and newly, the hemolytic phenotype of isolates.

Postoperative complications of rectal resections classified as grade III or higher according to Clavien-Dindo system, which also include anastomotic leaks, are usually life-threatening conditions. Delayed diagnosis may account for almost 18% of deaths. Due to nonspecific clinical signs in the early postoperative period, diagnosing these complications may truly be a challenge for clinicians.

Malignant pleural mesothelioma is one of the most aggressive malignancies with a very poor prognosis. Multimodal treatment consisting of three modalities - chemotherapy, radiotherapy and cytoreductive surgery is optimal. The use of new therapeutic modalities, such as hyperthermic intraoperative intrapleural chemotherapy or photodynamic therapy can improve the current results of mesothelioma treatment.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Rib fractures represent one of the most common fractures sustained by 10-40% of all patients with blunt chest trauma, their incidence increases with age. In the current literature, however, new indication criteria continue to emerge. The purpose of this study is to assess the indication criteria, the timing of surgery and the use of individual plates in dependence on fracture location in our patients after the chest wall stabilisation in a retrospective analysis.

Plenty of metagenomic studies have suggested possible associations between microbiome composition and colorectal cancer (CRC). However, these techniques are not economic enough for routine use so far. Therefore, we explored the possibility to detect species associated with colorectal cancer by conventional culture from rectal swab.

The tumors of the peritoneal surface, both primary and secondary, are associated with a very poor prognosis and rapid progression through conventional oncology treatment including systemic chemotherapy, targeted treatment, radiotherapy, surgery, and symptomatic treatment. Until recently, most of them were considered incurable. In the 1980s, the first cytoreductive surgery ("CRS") combined with intraperitoneal hyperthermic chemotherapy ("HIPEC") became the standard of treatment for selected tumor peritoneal tumor (pseudomyxoma peritonei and primary peritoneal malignant mesothelioma).
