Purpose: To assess clinical outcomes of patients who have undergone surgical repair of radial meniscal tears with reinforced suture bar (rebar) technique augmented with bone marrow aspirate concentrate.

Methods: This is a retrospective study of a single fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeon's experience on all patients who underwent a reinforced repair (rebar) of a radial meniscus tear from November 2016 to 2018, with a minimum of 12-month follow-up. Lysholm scores, IKDC (International Knee Documentation Committee) Subjective Knee Form scores, and Tegner scale were collected postoperatively at periods for at least 1 year and retrospectively studied.

Unlabelled: Pheochromocytomas are catecholamine-producing tumors and a rare cause of sudden cardiac death. We describe the case of a previously healthy 28-year-old man who presented after a ventricular fibrillation out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA). His clinical investigation, including a coronary evaluation, was unremarkable.

Background: Observational studies have suggested increased arrhythmic and cardiovascular risk with the combination use of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and azithromycin in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Objective: The arrhythmic safety profile of HCQ monotherapy, which remains under investigation as a therapeutic and prophylactic agent in COVID-19, is less established and we sought to evaluate this.

Methods: In 245 consecutive patients with COVID-19 admitted to the University of Washington hospital system between March 9, 2020, and May 10, 2020, we identified 111 treated with HCQ monotherapy.

Objective: The objective of this scoping review was to explore existing literature on protocols initiated by nurses for a spontaneous breathing trial in adult intensive care unit (ICU) patients in order to examine and conceptually map the evidence, and identify gaps in the literature.

Introduction: Nurses are vital in the care of the critically ill mechanically ventilated patient. By involving the nurse in the weaning process through implementing the final stage of the weaning process, the spontaneous breathing trial, patients may liberate from mechanical ventilation more readily, thereby reducing the cost of care and number of complications associated with prolonged ventilation.

Dysregulation of the WNT and insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2) signaling pathways has been implicated in sporadic and syndromic forms of adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC). Abnormal β-catenin staining and CTNNB1 mutations are reported to be common in both adrenocortical adenoma and ACC, whereas elevated IGF2 expression is associated primarily with ACC. To better understand the contribution of these pathways in the tumorigenesis of ACC, we examined clinicopathological and molecular data and used mouse models.

It has been suggested that AIDS patients may have reduced gastric acid output. This is of concern because gastric acid may be required for absorption of oral antifungal agents that are important in AIDS management. The cause as well as the progression of reduced gastric acid output in AIDS patients is unclear.

Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) and percutaneous endoscopic jejunostomy (PEJ) are well-accepted procedures for long-term enteral alimentation. PEG has replaced surgical gastrostomy at many institutions because of its safety and ease. This study was undertaken to evaluate the indications for PEG and PEJ, as well as their success rates, complications with special attention to aspiration, and long-term follow-up.

To determine whether oral iron preparations taken in therapeutic doses are capable of causing either true-positive, false-positive, or false-negative fecal occult blood Hemoccult tests, a prospective, before/after trial was conducted in the gastroenterology clinic of an Army medical center. Fourteen healthy volunteers were studied in four 1-wk periods, during which a single stool sample was collected on the 3rd, 5th, and 7th days for Hemoccult testing and HemoQuant assay. No iron preparations were ingested during the 1st and 3rd wk, and these results served as control values.

Nine patients with choledocholithiasis or cholelithiasis developed transient elevations of serum glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (SGOT) levels of greater than 600 units. Awareness of such transient biliary disease will prevent an unnecessary evaluation of a primary hepatocellular disorder. In our study, we concluded that 1) The SGOT level rose and fell rapidly within a 24- to 72-hour period.
