Photonic crystals are artificial structures with a spatial periodicity of dielectric permittivity on the wavelength scale. This feature results in a spectral region over which no light can propagate within such a material, known as the photonic band gap (PBG). It leads to a unique interaction between light and matter.

The electrical properties of textured polycrystalline SbSI obtained by the rapid cooling of a melted mass in liquid nitrogen are presented in this work using ac impedance spectroscopy over a wide temperature range (275-500 K) in the frequency range of 1 Hz to 100 kHz.

Background/purpose: To achieve photoprotection indicated on the package of sunscreen products they should be used appropriately. As previously published data documented that people usually applied much less than the recommended dose, the current study was undertaken to assess whether a detailed instruction can improve the use of sunscreens.
Methods: A total of 105 volunteers were asked to apply sunscreen to the whole skin surface in the same way that they would do it before sun exposure.
The influence of the substitution of methanol in place of ethanol during the ultrasonic production of antimony sulfoiodide (SbSI) nanowires is presented. The new technology is faster and more efficient at temperatures greater than 314 K. The products were characterized by using techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDXA), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), optical diffuse reflection spectroscopy (DRS) and IR spectroscopy.
