View Article and Find Full Text PDFThis report represents the conclusions of 15 experts in nephrology and endocrinology, based on their knowledge of key studies and evidence in the field, on the role of continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) in patients with diabetes and chronic kidney disease (CKD), including those receiving dialysis. The experts discussed issues related to CGM accuracy, indications, education, clinical outcomes, quality of life, research gaps, and barriers to dissemination. Three main goals of management for patients with CKD and diabetes were identified: (1) greater use of CGMs for better glycemic monitoring and management, (2) further research evaluating the accuracy, feasibility, outcomes, and potential value of CGMs in patients with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) on hemodialysis, and (3) equitable access to CGM technology for patients with CKD.

While nurse-led clinical practice addressing sub-optimal consumer physical health is salient, a detailed understanding and description of the contribution by nurses to physical health interventions in people experiencing mental illness is not clearly articulated in the literature.
Aims: The aim of this integrative review is to describe the state of knowledge on nurse-led physical health intervention for consumers, focusing on nursing roles, nursing assessment, and intervention settings.
Background: The physical health comorbidities and premature mortality experienced by people with mental illness has led to an increase in exercise services embedded as part of standard care in hospital-based mental health services. Despite the increase in access to exercise services for people experiencing mental illness, there is currently a lack of guidelines on the assessment and triage of patients into exercise therapy.
Aims: To develop guidelines for the pre-exercise screening and health assessment of patients engaged with exercise services in hospital-based mental healthcare and to establish an exercise therapy triage framework for use in hospital-based mental healthcare.

Understanding the costs of PHC delivery is essential for effective resource allocation and health system efficiency.
Design: We used an ingredient-based method to estimate the cost of delivering a selection of services at PHC facilities in the six GCC countries in 2019.
Genetic screens have transformed our ability to interrogate cellular factor requirements for viral infections, but most current approaches are limited in their sensitivity, biased towards early stages of infection and provide only simplistic phenotypic information that is often based on survival of infected cells. Here, by engineering human cytomegalovirus to express single guide RNA libraries directly from the viral genome, we developed virus-encoded CRISPR-based direct readout screening (VECOS), a sensitive, versatile, viral-centric approach that enables profiling of different stages of viral infection in a pooled format. Using this approach, we identified hundreds of host dependency and restriction factors and quantified their direct effects on viral genome replication, viral particle secretion and infectiousness of secreted particles, providing a multi-dimensional perspective on virus-host interactions.

Methods: In this population-based study, incident strokes within the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region were ascertained during the 2015 study period and followed up for recurrence until December 31, 2018.
Recent toxicity studies of stormwater runoff implicated N-(1,3-dimethylbutyl)-N'-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine-quinone (6PPD-quinone) as the contaminant responsible for the mass mortality of coho salmon (Oncorhynchus kisutch). In the wake of this discovery, 6PPD-quinone has been measured in waterways around urban centers, along with other tire wear leachates like hexamethoxymethylmelamine (HMMM). The limited data available for 6PPD-quinone have shown toxicity can vary depending on the species.

The human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) pUS2 glycoprotein exploits the host's endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-associated degradation (ERAD) pathway to degrade major histocompatibility complex class I (MHC-I) and prevent antigen presentation. Beyond MHC-I, pUS2 has been shown to target a range of cellular proteins for degradation, preventing their cell surface expression. Here we have identified a novel pUS2 target, ER-resident protein lectin mannose binding 2 like (LMAN2L).
