Background: Pre-slaughter stress or the welfare condition of food-producing animals (FPAs) and the slaughter practices of slaughterhouse workers (SHWs) are critically important for the safety and quality of meats processed in slaughterhouses (SHs). Consequently, this study determined the pre-slaughter, slaughter, and post-slaughter (PSP) practices of SHWsin four SHs in Southeast, Nigeria; and discussed the impacts on meat quality and safety.

The study aimed at determining the effect of Pleurotus tuber-regium-treated cassava root sievate-based diets on haematology and serum biochemistry of West African Dwarf (WAD) goats. Thirty-two WAD goats between 6 and 8 months old were randomly divided into four groups of eight goats each. The four experimental diets were formulated to contain 0, 20, 40 and 60% dietary levels of inclusion of Pleurotus tuber-regium-treated cassava root sievate, respectively.

GKS contain a copious amount of polyphenols and can be utilized as a natural growth promoter in the nutrition of weaned rabbits.
