Triptan-induced torsades de pointes and ventricular fibrillation cardiac arrest: case report and review of the literature.

Migraine is a potentially debilitating neurologic disorder affecting approximately 12% of the United States population. Sumatriptan manufacturer-provided drug information states that life threatening arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation (VF), have been reported. A literature search revealed only seven reported cases of ventricular arrhythmias immediately after sumatriptan administration.

Foodborne botulism treated with heptavalent botulism antitoxin.

Objective: To report a case of foodborne botulism and subsequent use of the investigational heptavalent botulism antitoxin (H-BAT).

Case Summary: A 60-year-old man was hospitalized with blurred vision, diplopia, and dysarthria. On hospital day 2, the patient was transferred to the intensive care unit for progressive fatigable weakness with ptosis, dysphagia, dysarthria, and nausea.
