Packaging material should guarantee the longest possible shelf life of food and help to maintain its quality. The aim of the study was to assess the physicochemical changes taking place during 28-day ageing of beef steaks packed in two types of multilayer films containing biodegradable polymers - polylactic acid (NAT/PLA) and Mater-Bi® (NAT/MBI). The control group consisted of steaks packed in synthetic polyamide/polyethylene (PA/PE) film.

We implemented a nonhuman primate critical care model to investigate these associations.
Methods: Two rhesus macaques received a target dose of 1000 plaque-forming units of Ebola virus intramuscularly with supportive care initiated on day 3.
Radon detectors based on an electrostatic collection of polonium and detection of its alpha decay are a popular choice for the measurement of radon activity. Due to the nature of $^{222}$Rn decays, 88% of radon progeny have a positive charge, thus enabling their collection on an electrode. A simulation software focused on the drift and diffusion of ions in an electric field has been developed, providing a tool to study and characterise such detectors.

The type of heat treatment did not significantly affect shear force or water activity. Cooking loss in the grilled and steamed meat was significantly higher than in the sous vide.

The infection can spread rapidly throughout a breeding area, reducing the rabbit population, and causing heavy losses. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of the system of animal management on the extensity and intensity of infection by Eimeria of farmed rabbits, together with the effect of the sex, age, and breed of the rabbits themselves.

It has a broad expression pattern in haematopoietic and in non-haematopoietic cells. However, its physiological function has been unknown.

Aim: This paper presents a retrospective analysis of early surgical results.
Methods: The patients consisted of two groups: group I included 59 children operated on in the years 2003-2012, in whom the stage I Norwood procedure with the Sano modification was performed with the aortic arch reconstructed by use of a ho-mogenous pulmonary artery patch or a bovine pericardial patch.
Background: Second-stage palliation with hemi-Fontan or bidirectional Glenn procedures has improved the outcomes of patients treated for single-ventricle heart disease. The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze risk factors for death after second-stage palliation of single-ventricle heart and to compare therapeutic results achieved with the hemi-Fontan and bidirectional Glenn procedures.
Material And Methods: We analyzed 60 patients who had undergone second-stage palliation for single-ventricle heart.
Veal is widely prized by consumers for its excellent nutritional value. Calf meat is generally obtained from young (immature) bovine animals up to 8months of age, or in some cases from older animals, but no older than 12months. Classification of calf carcasses and specification of cuts are quite well regulated in the European market, in contrast with feeding systems and meat characteristics.
