Background: There is little evidence on intra-articular (IA) treatment in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) and there is a lack of long-term follow-up studies.
Objective: To assess the long-term effectiveness and safety of IA oxygen-ozone (O2O3) and hyaluronic acid (HA) in terms of functioning in KOA patients over a 31-week period.
Methods: Patients aged ⩾ 60 years with KOA were randomly allocated to receive 4 IA knee injections (1/week) of O2O3 or HA (T0-T3) and a follow-up visit 4 weeks after the fourth injection (T4).
Prostate carcinoma is a common malignant neoplasia that mostly metastasizes to bone in males. Nonetheless, the number of paleopathological cases reported is very small. Most of them were identified in Europe, and only two came from South American individuals.

There is some evidence that the administration of high doses can increase the risk of systemic diffusion and the development of clinically evident adverse effects, however an international consensus does not exist about its maximum dose.
Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in autonomic heart drive induced by high doses (higher than 600 units) of incobotulinumtoxinA injection in spastic stroke patients.
Objective: This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of psychodynamic interventions in cancer care.
Methods: Between 2006 and 2009, each consecutive outpatient of the Oncology Center of the University Hospital of Lausanne was invited to participate in a trial evaluating the effects of psychological support. Accepting patients were randomly assigned to an immediate intervention or a delayed intervention [4-month waiting list].
Background: To investigate the focus of psychodynamic-oriented interventions in cancer patients by means of a qualitative analysis of the therapists' reports.
Methods: One hundred thirty-five reports collected within a controlled psychotherapy trial were analyzed; the themes addressed during the intervention were classified in categories reflecting the focus of the intervention and correlated with sociodemographic and medical data and type of intervention.
Results: Twenty main themes were identified and classified in two categories: category 1 corresponded to interventions based on expression and support, and category 2 to interventions based on introspection, with subcategory 2.
As psychiatric disorders attacking the body, anorexia and bulimia may have severe psychological, physical and social consequences, often requiring a long-standing interdisciplinary, coordinated and individualized approach. Recently the canton of Vaud has initiated and developed an interinstitutional structure--between the University Hospital (CHUV) and the hospitals of the Northern region of the canton (eHnv)--for the care of patients suffering from eating disorders. This structure, allowing the above mentioned approach for the treatment of eating disorders, consists of an outpatient facility located in the CHUV and an inpatient unit in the hospital of Saint Loup of the eHnv.

Our considerations are based on our daily work in CL Psychiatry and refer to the psychodynamic model, rooted in Freudian's thought. Characteristics are the setting, as well as the relationship with the patient and the interactions with the physicians as the "emergence" of the suffering body within the therapy.

Materials And Methods: Consecutive cancer patients (N = 100) treated as outpatients in the University Hospital Lausanne (N = 80) and in a nearby hospice (N = 20) were evaluated with the SMiLE, a reliable and validated respondent-generated instrument for the assessment of MiL. The respondents list three to seven areas, which provide meaning to their life and rate the level of importance (weighting) and satisfaction of each area.
Living organ donation has raised ethical issues, which have not been fully addressed. The scarcity of organs as well as medical advances promote this procedure. However, the psychological outcome of donors may not be as good as expected.

Dynamic psychiatrists value the analysis of the physician-patient relationship as a crucial component of the diagnostic assessment of all cancer patients with a comorbid psychiatric disorder. Transference is a repetition. The feelings associated with figures from the past are being repeated with the psychiatrist.

Depression may occur at several key-moments: after diagnosis, a relapse, in the context of treatment failure. Depression is correlated with biological factors due to illness itself and its treatments, but also with inappropriate coping strategies.

Sleep disorders are characterised by a circular interrelationship with chronic pain such that pain leads to sleep disorders and sleep disorders increase the perception of pain. Sleep disorders in individuals with chronic pain remain under-reported, under-diagnosed and under-treated, which may lead--together with the individual's emotional, cognitive and behavioural maladaptive responses--to the frequent development of chronic sleep disorders.
