Burnout among Hospital Pharmacists in Canada: A Cross-Sectional Analysis.

Background: Burnout is a growing problem among health care professionals, with consequences for patient safety and personal satisfaction. The prevalence of burnout among hospital pharmacists in Canada is unknown; however, it has been documented at over 60% in other countries.

Objectives: To assess the prevalence of burnout and variables associated with burnout among hospital pharmacists in Canada.

Application of the Beers Criteria to Alternate Level of Care Patients in Hospital Inpatient Units.

Background: The Beers criteria were developed to help in identifying potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) for elderly patients. These medications are often associated with adverse events and limited effectiveness in older adults. Patients awaiting an alternate level of care (ALC patients) are those who no longer require acute care hospital services and are waiting for placement elsewhere.

Sleep deprivation lowers reactive aggression and testosterone in men.

The role of sleep deprivation in aggressive behavior has not been systematically investigated, despite a great deal of evidence to suggest a relationship. We investigated the impact of 33 h of sleep loss on endocrine function and reactive aggression using the Point Subtraction Aggression Paradigm (PSAP) task. PSAP performance was assessed in 24 young men and 25 women who were randomly assigned to a sleep deprivation or control condition.
