Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the effectiveness of periosteal pedicle graft (PPG) as an alternative to subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) for root coverage in dental procedures, highlighting the drawbacks of SCTG, such as the need for a second surgery and potential complications.
  • - A total of 52 gingival recessions were randomly assigned to either the SCTG or PPG groups, with measurements taken at baseline, 3 months, and 6 months post-surgery to assess improvements in recession depth and clinical attachment level.
  • - Results showed both techniques offered significant root coverage with similar outcomes, but PPG provided better patient comfort and eliminated the need for a second surgical site, making it a viable

Purpose: Mandibular third molar (M3) extraction is the common surgical procedures carried out; however, one of the complications is development of periodontal disease in adjacent second molars (M2). Background And Objectives: Socket preservation is the procedure which is carried out at the time of extraction to enhance the esthetic predictability of prosthesis and to reduce the number of surgical interventions by minimizing the crestal bone loss. The aim of the present study was to compare the efficacy of natural bovine hydroxyapatite and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) matrix along with collagen plug to unassisted natural healing in extraction sites.

Materials And Methods: A sample of 25 patients of age 17-50 years who require extraction of at least two teeth which were not adjacent to each other were included in the study.
