is the causative agent of the venereal disease trichomoniasis which infects men and women globally and is associated with serious outcomes during pregnancy and cancers of the human reproductive tract. Trichomonads parasitize a range of hosts in addition to humans including birds, livestock, and domesticated animals. Recent genetic analysis of trichomonads recovered from columbid birds has provided evidence that these parasite species undergo frequent host-switching, and that a current epoch spillover event from columbids likely gave rise to in humans.

In this study, the rhombohedral crystalline pure phase BiFeO (BFO) of irregularly shaped spherical particles of ≈100 nm and energy bandgap of ≈2.31 eV are synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion method and explored as electrode material for photo-assisted supercapacitor. The electronic structure studies revealed that the coexistence of heterovalent Bi and Fe elements accelerated the electrochemical redox kinetics and photo-assisted charge storage properties.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the impact of various chelating agents on calcium loss in root canal dentin using 65 single-rooted teeth samples prepared in a controlled manner.
  • Five groups of chelating agents were compared: liquid EDTA, EDTA with chlorhexidine, etidronic acid, SmearClear, and a control with distilled water to assess their effectiveness in decalcifying dentin.
  • Results showed that SmearClear was notably more effective in decalcifying dentin compared to the other agents, suggesting a potential recommendation for its use in endodontic treatments to enhance smear layer removal while preserving tooth strength.

Halophilic archaea are an untapped source for a wide range of applications. This study explores the potential of a copolymer poly[(3-hydroxybutyrate)--(3-hydroxyvalerate) (PHBV), naturally synthesized by the halophilic archaeon, E3, as a potential candidate for a tissue engineering biomaterial. Composites and blends from natural PHBV were fabricated with poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA), poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) and graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) to enhance the properties of the material.

Background Objectives: More than 1 million people die every year from vector-borne diseases, which constitute more than 17% of all infectious diseases. This study's primary focus is on the detailed evolutionary history and expression analysis of immune genes, one of the key gene families in the immune system of vectors that play a role in the regulation and interaction of parasites in vector bodies, particularly the mosquitoes that transmit malaria and dengue, significant vector borne disease.

Methods: The vector potentiality and participation of TLR genes in vector parasite interaction in the Indian context will be explained by the differential expression study of this potential gene family in Indian populations of vector species.

  • The P-type ATPase superfamily genes are important proteins that move ions across cell membranes using energy from ATP, and they play key roles in plant growth, particularly in reproductive functions.
  • Research on pigeonpea revealed 59 different P-type ATPases, categorized into five subfamilies, with some genes expanded through tandem duplication during evolution.
  • Expression studies showed that specific P-type ATPases may influence pollen fertility, with certain genes being down-regulated in male sterile plants and highly expressed in lines that can restore fertility.

Dental photography is now an excellent tool that plays a crucial role in dentistry as it helps in documenting and analyzing the oral conditions of patients. Photography provides a visual representation of the teeth, gums, and other oral structures, which aids in diagnosis, treatment planning, and monitoring the progress of treatment. Therefore, it is essential for dental professionals to understand the importance of dental photography and incorporate photography it into regular practice.

Degradation of dyes under natural light sources is one of the most active research areas in basic science for greener technology. In this context, the photocatalytic activity of semiconductors has received massive attention in solving water treatment-related issues as these possess enormous potential for degrading organic impurities. Here, we report that barium aluminate (BaAlO, BAO), which has been extensively studied for photoluminescence applications, is found to be a highly potent candidate for photocatalytic activities.

Comparative methods in molecular evolution and structural biology rely heavily upon the site-wise analysis of DNA sequence and protein structure, both static forms of information. However, it is widely accepted that protein function results from nanoscale nonrandom machine-like motions induced by evolutionarily conserved molecular interactions. Comparisons of molecular dynamics (MD) simulations conducted between homologous sites representative of different functional or mutational states can potentially identify local effects on binding interaction and protein evolution.

  • * A study involving 80 patients found that those with OSMF and OSCC had increased copper levels and decreased zinc, selenium, and molybdenum levels in their serum compared to the control group.
  • * The findings suggest that monitoring trace elements in serum could be useful for early disease detection and treatment management in patients with OSMF and OSCC.

Introduction: Apexification procedure with Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Biodentine as apical plugs along with the incorporation of medicaments such as silver zeolite, chlorhexidine, and triple antibiotic powder (TAP) is a new area of research that is gradually gaining momentum in dentistry.

Aim: The study aimed to evaluate and compare the calcium released from the apical plugs formed by MTA and Biodentine with and without incorporation of 2% TAP and 2% modified triple antibiotic powder (mTAP).

Materials And Methods: Ninety single-rooted teeth were randomly divided ( = 15) into two experimental groups with three subgroups (n = 5) each based on the composition of apical plugs (4 mm) as follows: Group A: Biodentine - Subgroup 1: Biodentine, Subgroup 2: Biodentine + 2% TAP, and Subgroup 3: Biodentine + 2% modified TAP and Group B: MTA - Subgroup 1: MTA, Subgroup 2: MTA + 2% TAP, and Subgroup 3: MTA + 2% modified TAP.

Superalkalis (SAs) are exotic clusters having lower ionization energy than alkali atoms, which makes them strong reducing agents. In the quest for the reduction of diatomic molecules (X) such as N, O, and H using Møller-Plesset perturbation theory (MP2), we have studied their interaction with typical superalkalis such as FLi, OLi, and NLi and calculated various parameters of the resulting SA-X complexes. We noticed that the SA-O complex and its isomers possess strong ionic interaction, which leads to the reduction of O to O anion.

The analytical soliton solutions place a lot of value on birefringent fibres. The major goal of this study is to generate novel forms of soliton solutions for the Radhakrishnan-Kundu-Lakshmanan equation, which depicts unstable optical solitons that arise from optical propagations using birefringent fibres. The (presumably new) extended direct algebraic (EDA) technique is used here to extract a large number of solutions for RKLE.
