Amyloid arthropathy associated with multiple myeloma: a systematic analysis of 101 reported cases.

Objective: Amyloid deposition in multiple myeloma (MM) may lead to an arthropathy resembling rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Since a systematic description of its natural history is lacking, we have performed a systematic analysis of all published cases.

Methods: Literature review featuring backward and forward database searches and direct inspection of reference lists.

Monoclonal gammopathies presenting as inflammatory arthritis: uncommon but important--a case series.

Objective: To review the clinical profile of patients with plasma cell dyscrasias presenting with inflammatory arthritis.

Material And Methods: Retrospective analysis was performed on clinical, laboratory and imaging data of patients who presented with inflammatory arthritis between May 2009 and April 2010 and were subsequently diagnosed as having plasma cell dyscrasias. Six out of 630 patients presenting with inflammatory arthritis were identified.

Synthesis of 2-methyl N10-substituted acridones as selective inhibitors of multidrug resistance (MDR) associated protein in cancer cells.

A series of N10-substituted-2-methyl acridone derivatives are synthesized and are examined for its ability to reverse P-glycoprotein (P-gp) mediated multidrug resistance (MDR) in breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MCF-7/Adr. The structural requirement of in-vitro anti-cancer and reversal of drug resistance are studied. The results showed that compound 16 with four carbon spacer exhibited promising in-vitro anti-cancer and reversal of drug resistance in comparison to the other analogues.

Changes in exercise heart rate in lowlanders after prolonged stay at high altitude (4000 m).

Studies were conducted on cardiac frequency during submaximal and maximal work on 26 sea-level residents prior to transfer to and during stay at high altitude for 1, 10, and 20 months. Maximal O2 uptake and performance in a 1.6 km run were observed.
