Cerebrovascular Events Complicating Cardiac Catheterization - A Tertiary Care Cardiac Centre Experience.

Background: Cerebrovascular events (CVEs) are one of the rare complications of cardiac catheterization. This prospective single-center study was conducted to assess the incidence, presentations, and outcomes of CVEs in patients undergoing cardiac catheterization.

Methods: Patients undergoing cardiac catheterization who developed CVEs within 48 h of procedure were analyzed prospectively with clinical assessment and neuroimaging.

Severe Amlodipine Toxicity: A Case Rescued with Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation.

Unlabelled: Amlodipine is a widely prescribed drugs for the management of hypertension. Its toxicity is associated with severe myocardial depression and refractory hypotension. We present a case of a 28-year-old female known case of seizure disorder and depression who got admitted to our hospital with a history of consumption of 80 tablets of 5 mg amlodipine (total 400 mg).

Intracardiac mass in chronic myeloid leukemia.

Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is a neoplastic disorder of myeloid cell lines and is a less aggressive disease compared to acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Although cardiovascular complications are not uncommon, intracardiac thrombosis in CML is rarely reported. Herein, we report a case of CML presenting with an intracardiac thrombus attached to the posterior mitral leaflet, and subsequently resulting in peripheral embolization.

Angiographic profile and endovascular interventions in Takayasu's arteritis.

Background: Takayasu's arteritis (TA) is a rare inflammatory, granulomatous vasculitis primarily involving the aorta and its major branches. Clinical and angiographic manifestations of the disease differ in various parts of the world.

Objectives: To analyze the clinical features, angiographic profile, and endovascular interventions in TA patients (pts).

Transjugular approach for successful recanalization and stenting for inferior vena cava stenosis.

Budd-Chiari syndrome is a rare disease characterized by obstruction of outflow in the hepatic vein and/or the inferior vena cava (IVC). Percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stent placement is nowadays considered to be the first-line treatment for central venous disease because of its minimal-invasive approach. IVC reconstruction by surgical approach is not preferred due to increased morbidity and disappointing patency rates.

Transjugular percutaneous transvenous mitral commissurotomy (PTMC) using conventional PTMC equipment in rheumatic mitral stenosis with interruption of inferior vena cava.

Background: Isolated interruption of the inferior vena cava (IVC) is a rare anomaly. We report a series of 4 cases of isolated interruption of the IVC that coexisted with rheumatic mitral stenosis. Interrupted IVC precludes the use of the femoral approach to percutaneous transseptal mitral commissurotomy (PTMC).

Circumferential stent fracture: novel detection and treatment with the use of StentBoost.

Circumferential stent fracture is extremely uncommon, and in rare cases, it can cause stent thrombosis. Recognizing stent fracture can be difficult on conventional fluoroscopy because of poor stent radiopacity. We found that StentBoost image acquisition yields improved visibility of stent struts, enabling the identification of stent fracture and the precise positioning of new stents over previously stented segments.

Preventing a central nervous system catastrophe in a case of Takayasu's arteritis presenting with critical stenosis of all three arch vessels.

Multifocal and bilateral involvement of the arch vessels is a common presentation of Takayasu's arteritis. Endovascular stenting of multiple supra aortic lesions in Takayasu's arteritis has been described scarcely in literature. We describe the management of a case of Takayasu's arteritis who presented with recurrent vertebro-basilar symptoms and a single surviving arch vessel.

Novel transcatheter closure of internal iliac arteriovenous malformation.

Arteriovenous malformations arising from iliac arteries are rare anomalies. Percutaneous embolization of such malformations is an established therapeutic option. In this paper, we will describe a case, wherein the internal iliac artery feeding a giant arteriovenous fistula was closed using a patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) duct occluder percutaneously.
