Pulmonary Spindle Cell Carcinoma: As Rare as a Hen's Teeth.

This case is about a 70-year-old man who presented with symptoms and laboratory reports that indicated differentials toward an infectious disease (pneumonia and tuberculosis). A lung mass was found in his chest X-ray and in the computerized tomography (CT) scan of his thorax. A biopsy was taken from the lung mass, and histopathological examination and immunohistochemical staining of the biopsy were done.

Giant Bullous Emphysema Mimicking Spontaneous Pneumothorax.

Emphysema is a progressive and degenerative lung disease that most commonly occurs due to many years of smoking or exposure to smoke and irritants. It is also seen in the congenital absence of the alpha-1-antitrypsin enzyme. Bullous emphysema is an advanced stage of the disease where strictures of the bronchi permit the inspired air to enter the bronchi but close on expiration, causing air retention and alveolar dilation, destruction, and atrophy.
