Twenty-four women (mean age 42.0 +/- 2.4 years) with leiomyoma underwent treatment with a gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist (buserelin) for 6 months at a dose of 1200 micrograms daily intranasally for the first 2 months, followed by 900 micrograms daily for 4 months.

The clinical and pathological features, histogenesis and treatment of 23 cases of mixed mesodermal tumours of the uterus (15 benign and 8 malignant) in woman aged from 27 to 78 years (mean 51.25) are reviewed. The tumours manifested by non-specific symptoms, most often uterine bleeding, arising suspicion of malignancy in only two cases.

In order to determinate place of compression and degree of haemodynamic disturbance we examined 34 patient and 30 asymptomatic volunteers. By duplex scan we studied retroscalenal part of subclavian artery. Using real-time (B-mode) imaging we founded significant reduction of lumen diameter of subclavian artery during Adsonś, manoeuvre in 51% of cases.

A candidate gene for cystic fibrosis was recently isolated by selective cloning of HpaII-tiny-fragment islands; it maps considerably closer to CF than does MET or D7S8 (pJ3.11), and DNA polymorphisms from this region are in marked disequilibrium with CF. cDNA cloning has shown that this protein has a growth factor-like structure and shows homology to the murine and human proto-oncogene int-1; it is designated IRP (int-1-related protein).
