A Cervical Schwannoma Masquerading as a Thyroid Nodule.

Background: We present a case of a cervical schwannoma, likely originating from the pharyngeal plexus of the vagal nerve. The lesion masqueraded as a thyroid nodule and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assisted in preoperative diagnosis. We review the radiographic characteristics of nerve sheath tumors on MRI as well as the diagnostic cytologic stains which can enhance the possibility of a correct preoperative diagnosis.

Approach to incidentally diagnosed isolated ventricular noncompaction of myocardium.

Isolated ventricular noncompaction (IVNC) is a congenital cardiomyopathy characterized by a distinctive ("spongy") morphological appearance of the left ventricular (LV) myocardium. It is rare but, with improved imaging modalities and awareness, it is being reported more frequently. Clinical manifestations may range from being asymptomatic to heart failure, arrhythmias, sudden cardiac death, and systemic thromboembolism.
