The complete mitochondrial (mt) genomes of five subspecies of the Eurasian (Common) magpie were determined for the first time. Lengths of the circular genomes comprise 13 protein-coding genes, two rRNA genes (for 12S rRNA and 16S rRNA), 22 tRNA genes, and the non-coding control region (CR). Gene content and lengths of the genomes (16,936-16,945 bp) are similar to typical vertebrate mt genomes.

The seasonal peculiarities of the circadian activity of hibernator, Yakutian long tail ground squirrels (S. undulatus) (n = 35) and non hibernator, Wistar rats (n = 35), were studied. The locomotor activity was registered in each subject individually during 5-17 days by means of "Animex" in the different periods of annual cycle.

The strong differentiation of haplotypes of the Siberian Rubythroat into western and eastern groups, which include subspecies according to their geographical attachment, was revealed. A high-haplotypic (Hd = 0.

We studied patterns of their genetic variation by using sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene.

The results obtained demonstrate that although the compared nuclear marker characteristics (nDNA and chromosomes) have the same basis they are not linke with each other and, moreover, are often mutually inconsistent.

The house mice were generally characterized by moderate genetic variation: polymorphism P99 = 60%, P95 = 32.57%; heterozygosity H = 0.

The results of the sequencing showed extensive introgression of mtDNA genes of the short-tailed ground squirrel S.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFRAPD-PCR analysis of genetic variability of carrion crows, hooded crows and their phenotypic hybrids from the zones of overlap of their areals and hybridization of parental forms in Siberia has been carried out. According to RAPD variability the following parameters were estimated for both species and their hybrids: genetical distances (DN), polymorphism (P95), mean expected heterozygosity (H(e)), gene fixation coefficient (Fst) and the portion of interpopulation differentiation (Gst). It was shown that the rate of genetic variability in carrion crows and hooded crows is less than in the hybrids.
