The effects of pentylenetetrazol (PTZ) on resting membrane potential (RMP) and on action potentials (AP) of dorsal root ganglion cells of the rat in tissue culture were studied. PTZ usually evoked a hyperpolarization which was followed by a depolarization. The hyperpolarization diminished with increasing initial MP and was absent at about 80 mV.
