The adhesion of nanoparticles to lipid vesicles causes curvature deformations to the membrane to an extent determined by the competition between the adhesive interaction and the membrane's elasticity. These deformations can extend over length scales larger than the size of a nanoparticle, leading to an effective membrane-curvature-mediated interaction between nanoparticles. Nanoparticles with uniform surfaces tend to aggregate into unidimensionally close-packed clusters at moderate adhesion strengths and endocytose at high adhesion strengths.

For attractive interactions between the NPs and the polymers, the depth of NPs' penetration in the brush results from a competition between the enthalpic gain due to the favorable polymer-NP interaction and the effect of osmotic pressure resulting from displaced polymers by the NP's volume. A large number of simulations show that the average depth of the NPs increases by increasing the strength of the interaction strength.

Methods: We studied 37 common surgical and interventional procedures using 5% Medicare claims files from January 1, 2016, through December 31, 2021.
Objective: To determine the association of Enhanced Recovery Program (ERP) implementation with length of stay (LOS) and perioperative outcomes after lower-extremity bypass (LEB).
Background: ERPs have been shown to decrease hospital LOS and improve perioperative outcomes, but their impact on patients undergoing vascular surgery remains unknown.
Methods: Patients undergoing LEB who received or did not receive care under the ERP were included; pre-ERP (January 1, 2016-May 13, 2018) and ERP (May 14, 2018-July 31, 2022).
Objective: Aortic endarterectomy (AE), once a treatment of choice for aortoiliac occlusive disease, is now rarely performed in favor of endovascular procedures or open aortobifemoral bypass. However, in select patients with paravisceral or aortoiliac occlusive disease, AE remains a viable alternative for revascularization, either as a primary procedure or after prior interventions have failed. Here, we evaluated outcomes for an extended series of patients undergoing paravisceral or aortoiliac endarterectomy, demonstrating that these procedures can be an excellent alternative with acceptable morbidity and mortality in properly selected patients.

We found that the Janus nanoparticles adhering to planar membranes exhibit a rich phase behavior that depends on their adhesion energy density and areal number density. In particular, effective repulsive membrane-curvature-mediated interactions between the Janus nanoparticles lead to their self-assembly into an ordered hexagonal superlattice at intermediate densities and intermediate to high adhesion energy density, with a lattice constant determined by their areal density.

Central venous catheter placement continues to be an extremely common procedure throughout hospital systems. Although ultrasound guidance can mitigate some placement risks, misplacement of lines into neighboring structures, such as arteries, remains an unfortunate complication. We found that at weak values of the adhesion energy per unit of area, , the SCNPs are monomeric and adhere to the membrane in the parallel mode. The aim of this study is to report contemporary outcomes after invasive treatment of ASA/KD using a large international dataset.
Methods: Patients who underwent treatment for ASA/KD (2000-2020) were identified through the Vascular Low Frequency Disease Consortium, a multi-institutional collaboration to investigate uncommon vascular disorders.
Objective: To evaluate long term outcomes (reintervention and late rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm) of aortic endografts in real world practice using linked registry claims data.
Design: Observational surveillance study.
Setting: 282 centers in the Vascular Quality Initiative Registry linked to United States Medicare claims (2003-18).
Objective: Aortic remodeling of the thoracic aorta has been studied in patients treated with medical or endovascular therapy for the treatment of acute aortic dissections; however, particular attention has not yet focused on identifying specific growth patterns and rates across all aortic zones. Additionally, previous studies have not delineated between dissections with and without visceral aortic involvement, and we hypothesize that these two cohorts may exhibit distinct differences.
