A man aged 51 with dextrocardia and right common and internal carotid artery agenesis is described. Cerebral blood flow is allowed internally by the left carotid and left vertebral antegrade flow, while right artery has only the function to drain the blood from the left side of vertebral system. A small external right carotid does exist, but it is separated from the cerebral hemodynamics.

A patient with Von Hippel disease is described. The Von Hippel syndrome is a genetic disease characterized by a retinal angiomatosis and multiple tumors (renal and pancreatic sites are common). The pheochromocytoma is-on the contrary-very uncommon and the association with 2 pheochromocytomas has probably never been reported.

In the course of a general population survey in Mirano (Venice), Northern Italy, a random sample of 1,903 subjects (50.1% men) aged 20-59 was examined. Fifty-five were diabetic (fasting plasma glucose greater than or equal to 140 mg/dl or diagnosed by a physician) and 1,670 non-diabetic subjects (fasting plasma glucose below 110 mg/dl).

The patients were subdivided into 3 groups, in accordance with clinical, echographic, laboratory and laparoscopy criteria: without liver disease, with liver disease and with alcoholic cirrhosis. In alcoholics with liver disease (with or without cirrhosis), we found a constant significant decrease in lead during abstinence, while in patients with cirrhosis zinc has a significant increase. The authors report the case of a young nun who came to their attention because of the simultaneous development of mammary and pelvic lymphoblastic lymphoma and acute leukemia showing aspects typical of nonendemic Burkitt's lymphoma. The rapid tumoral growth and the equally rapid spontaneous cell lysis led to severe renal insufficiency and metabolic acidosis which were ultimately the cause of death. Given the rareness of the clinical situation and the diagnostic problems involved, the authors examined the literature dealing with this subject.

Experience in treating heroin addicts with a major neuroleptic, Chlothiapin (Entumin Sandoz) is described. Treatment was begun on 16 cases and completed on 12. Slight signs of asthenia appeared in three cases.

The effects on hair growth by treatment with cimetidine have been studied. This drug has been given orally to 4 women with simple hirsutism and 3 women with peptic ulcer as controls for a period of 9 months. Hair growth slowed down in all of the treated women but the results were not statistically significant.

The research here reported concerns 9 hirsute women, four of them with PCO and five with idiopathic hirsutism, who underwent treatment with spironolactone. 4 non hirsute hypertensive cases served as control. For one year hair growth, testosterone, 17 Ks, estradiol and gonadotropins behaviours were studied in all of the patients.
