Contents of Macro- and Microelements in Blood Serum and Breast Muscle of Turkey Subjected to Pre-Slaughter Transport for Various Distances.

In this study, the effect of pre-slaughter handling on the content of macro- and micronutrients in blood serum and in the breast muscle of turkeys was assessed. Four different variants of pre-slaughter handling were used in the research: no transport (N-T), transport for a distance of 100 km (T-100), transport for a distance of 200 km (T-200), and transport for a distance of 300 km (T-300). In each of them, 30 female and 30 male turkeys were used.

The choice of bedding material affects the quality of air in a stable and, consequently, the respiratory health of horses and humans. The risk of respiratory problems can be mitigated by improving the quality of air in the stable. The choice of bedding material is particularly important in cold climate conditions where horses are kept indoors throughout the year.

The effectiveness of peppermint and thyme essential oil mist in reducing bacterial contamination in broiler houses.

The antimicrobial properties of essential oils have been demonstrated by various in vitro studies, whereas their effect on poultry farm hygiene has not been thoroughly investigated, in particular with reference to aerial treatment. The present study aims to assess the antibacterial effects of natural essential oils in broiler houses. Two experimental rooms were fogged with aqueous solutions of peppermint and thyme oils.

Trigeminal nerve - artery contact in people without trigeminal neuralgia - MR study.

Background: Neurovascular conflict is regarded as the most common cause of idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia. It is suspected that a blood vessel in contact with the root entry zone of a trigeminal nerve causes its irritation. The aim of the study was to evaluate how signs of neurovascular conflict can be found in people without trigeminal neuralgia

Material/methods: The study was conducted retrospectively.

Deletion screening and carrier detection in Duchenne muscular dystrophy in Polish population via direct analysis of DNA and RNA transcripts.

Analysis of 102 Polish Duchenne/Becker muscular dystrophy (D/BMD) patients was performed by 'multiplex' amplification of 22 fragments of the DMD/BMD gene and deletions were found in 55% of the patients. The data obtained using PCR were compared with results of 25 Southern blotting and hybridization experiments with cDNA probes and with immunostaining using anti-dystrophin antibodies. In order to determine more precise deletion breakpoints, additional experiments were performed on dystrophin transcripts isolated from peripheral blood lymphocytes.
