Carbapenem-resistant Gram-negative bacteria (CR-GNB) have experienced an alarming surge in prevalence in recent years, escalating into a critical global healthcare crisis. As carbapenems represent the last line of defense against such pathogens, infections caused by CR-GNB have become increasingly challenging to treat, given the restricted therapeutic options and heightened mortality risks. The discovery and development of alternative therapeutic strategies that present novel avenues against multi-drug-resistant organisms are gaining increased attention, presenting a pressing need for innovative solutions.

Dysphania ambrosioides essential oil (EO) possesses significant antibacterial and antioxidant properties. However, its application as a food preservation agent is limited due to high volatility and instability. Given the industrial relevance of this EO, developing new products that incorporate microencapsulated D.

Artificial insemination is a widely adopted method in livestock production for various reasons such as health security and genetic improvement. Although sperm motility is of paramount importance in this technique as it directly influences the sperm's ability to fertilize the oocyte. In previous research on human sperm, we observed that in vitro supplementation with Origanum Vulgare essential oil significantly improved sperm motility and antioxidant activities, all without negatively affecting the integrity of their DNA.

In the current research, SRBG1 newly isolated from Bat guano was encapsulated using spray drying technique to create a probiotic powder using six combinations of inulin, maltodextrin and sodium alginate. The encapsulation yield, moisture content, physical characteristics, and shape were investigated. Microcapsules yields ranged from 67 to 85 percent, which is consistent with typical B-290 spray-drier yields.

Article Synopsis
  • Two strains producing exopolysaccharides (EPS), named SL and N5, were isolated from raw donkey milk and identified through 16S rDNA sequencing.
  • The Box Benheken design indicated that EPS-SL yielded 672.342 mg/L and EPS-N5 yielded 901 mg/L, with both being heteropolysaccharides based on various molecular analyses.
  • Both EPS demonstrated antibacterial and antioxidant properties, with EPS-SL showing stronger antioxidant activity, suggesting potential applications in food and pharmaceutical industries.

Recently, the interest in donkey milk has increased considerably because it proved high nutritive and functional values of their ingredients. Its chemical composition is widely studied, but its microbiota, especially lactic acid bacteria, remains less studied. This study focuses on analyzing, isolating, and identifying lactic acid bacteria and evaluating their capacity to produce biomolecules with antibacterial activity.
