Objectives: In the present study, we tested the functional/pharmacological significance of dimethyl fumarate (DMF) in streptozotocin-induced diabetic neuropathy (DN) in rats and high glucose-exposed Neuro2a (N2a) cells.

Materials And Methods: To evaluate the pharmacological effects of DMF on diabetic neuropathy, we assessed behavioral and functional parameters of peripheral neuropathy, oxidative stress markers, and target protein expression using immunohistochemistry/immunocytochemistry, and Western blotting in diabetic rats and hyperglycemic N2a cells.

Results: Diabetic rats exhibited hyperalgesia, allodynia, and compromised sensory and motor nerve conduction velocities in comparison to normal rats.

Inspired by our previous efforts in the semisynthetic modification of naturally occurring pyranoacridones, we report the targeted design and semisynthesis of dual inhibitors of HDAC and topoisomerase II α (Topo II α) derived from des--methylacronycine () and noracronycine () pyranoacridone alkaloids. Designed from the clinically approved SAHA, the cytotoxic pyranoacridone nuclei from the alkaloids served as the capping group, while a hydroxamic acid moiety functioned as the zinc-binding group. Out of 16 compounds evaluated in an cytotoxicity assay, KT32 () with noracronycine () as the capping group and five-carbon linker hydroxamic acid side chains showed good cytotoxic activity with IC values of 1.

Interaction of a novel dihydroxy dibenzoazacrown (HDTC) with various surfactants of different charges, for example, anionic (sodium dodecylsulfate, SDS), cationic (dodecyl trimethylammonium bromide, DTAB), cationic gemini (butanediyl-1,4-bis(dimethylcetylammonium bromide), 16-4-16), ionic liquid (1-hexadecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride, CMImCl), and nonionic (polyoxyethylene sorbitan monostearate, Tween-60), has been investigated at a widespread range of surfactant concentrations (including premicellar, micellar, and postmicellar regime) in 15% (v/v) EtOH medium at room temperature. Several experimental techniques, viz., tensiometry, UV-vis spectroscopy, and steady-state fluorimetry, are implemented to explicate these interactions.

In this study, mesoporous materials (MCM-41 and MCM-48) were synthesized and functionalized with an acid group through a post-synthetic modification method. A mononuclear Zn complex [Zn(dmp)Cl] (dmp = neocuprine) was also prepared and incorporated into a functionalized mesoporous material. Extensive characterization of the material married was carried out using techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) to evaluate the characteristics of modified materials.

We have developed a visible-light-mediated convenient and efficient strategy for the iodination of heteroarenes using diacetoxyiodobenzene (PIDA) under photocatalyst-free conditions. This unique approach is the first report on photocatalytic C-H iodination employing PIDA as the iodinating agent. The new photocatalyst-free strategy is applicable to a wide range of pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine derivatives with various functionalities.

The original molecular glue degraders (thalidomide, lenalidomide, and pomalidomide) are known to bind to cereblon (CRBN) and alter its surface to induce recruitment, ubiquitination, and degradation of therapeutically valuable neosubstrates (IKZF1, IKZF3, and CK1α). With the aim of understanding and modulating neosubstrate specificity, we recently reported the discovery of SJ3149 (), a selective and potent molecular glue degrader of CK1α, that is active in multiple cancer cell lines. Herein, we describe the medicinal chemistry efforts that resulted in the discovery of SJ3149 as well as other potent and selective CK1α degraders.

We report an environmentally benign recycling approach for large-capacity nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries through the electrochemical concentration of lithium on the anode and subsequent recovery with only water. Cycling of the NMC pouch cells indicated the potential for maximum lithium recovery at a 5C charging rate. The anodes extracted from discharged and disassembled cells were submerged in deionized water, resulting in lithium dissolution and graphite recovery from the copper foils.

Sundarban, a Ramsar site of India, has been encountering an ecological threat due to the presence of microplastic (MP) wastes generated from different anthropogenic sources. Clibanarius longitarsus, an intertidal hermit crab of Sundarban Biosphere Reserve, resides within the abandoned shell of a gastropod mollusc, Telescopium telescopium. We characterized and estimated the MP in the gills and gut of hermit crab, as well as in the water present in its occupied gastropod shell.

The burgeoning interest in the field of molecular magnetism is to perceive the high magnetic anisotropy in different geometries of metal complexes and hence to draw a magneto-structural correlation. Despite a handful of examples to exemplify the magnetic anisotropy in various coordination geometries of mononuclear complexes, the magnetic anisotropies for two different coordination geometries are underexplored. Employing an appropriate synthetic strategy utilizing the ligand LH [2,2'-{(1,1')-pyridine2,6-diyl-bis(methaneylylidine)}-bis(azaneylylidine)diphenol] and cobalt halide salts in a 1 : 2 stoichiometric ratio in the presence of triethylamine allowed us to report a new family of dinuclear cobalt complexes [CoII2X(L)(P)(Q)]·S with varying terminal halides [X = Cl, P = CHCN, Q = HO, S = HO (1), X = Br, P = CHCN, Q = HO, S = HO (2), X = I, P = CHCN, and Q = CHCN (3)].

The structural stability and therapeutic activity of Stem Bromelain (BM) have been explored by unravelling the interaction of stem BM in presence of two different types of anionic surfactants namely, bile salts, NaC and NaDC and the conventional anionic surfactants, SDDS and SDBS, below, at and above the critical micelle concentration (cmc) in aqueous phosphate buffer of pH 7.
