Purpose: Hansen's disease is endemic in over 140 countries worldwide and a potentially blinding condition. We describe a case of retinal vasculitis in a patient with Hansen's disease with concomitant positive antiphospholipid antibody serology, a potentially under-reported complication in this setting.
Methods: A 37-year-old Brazilian man systemically stable on triple therapy (clofazimine, rifampin, dapsone) for Hansen's disease presented for a comprehensive ophthalmic evaluation.
Objectives: Robotic navigational bronchoscopy is increasingly used to improve diagnostic yield for pulmonary nodules compared with the 50% to 60% obtained by standard bronchoscopy; however, safety and efficacy data are limited to small series. The aim of this study was to evaluate diagnostic yield and clinical outcomes in a large multisurgeon single-center cohort.
Methods: All patients who underwent robotic navigational bronchoscopy and biopsy from September 2020 to October 2022 were identified from a prospective institutional registry.
Purpose: To report the clinical outcomes of a case of Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) endophthalmitis following Descemet's membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) surgery.
Observations: Transplantation of non-sterile DMEK tissue led to development of a retrolenticular white plaque confirmed through PCR testing to be the result of P.

Importance: The Cornea Donor Study (CDS) showed that donor age is not a factor in survival of most penetrating keratoplasties for endothelial disease. Secondary analyses confirm the importance of surgical indication and presence of glaucoma in outcomes at 10 years.
Objective: To assess the relationship between donor and recipient factors and corneal graft survival in the CDS.

Purpose: To describe the clinical course of a case of intravascular lymphoma.
Design: Case report.
Methods: Retrospective chart review.
Purpose: To describe a potentially serious complication of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) that can masquerade as a persistent epithelial defect.
Setting: Refractive surgery centers in academic institutions.
Methods: Charts of 4 eyes in which epithelial-defect-masquerade syndrome was diagnosed were reviewed to determine the time to diagnosis and the presence of associated features that may have contributed to the delay in diagnosis.

Terrien's marginal degeneration (TMD) is a rare form of corneal ectasia. Few case reports have documented hydrops of the cornea in patients with TMD. We present the first case known to us of corneal hydrops in TMD where there is stromal edema in addition to the aqueous cystic cavities, and the first case demonstrating ultrastructural anatomy of this entity by ultrasound biomicroscopy.

This method of bisecting foldable IOLs in the anterior chamber is safe and preserves the advantages of the original small incision.

CD4+ T lymphocytes may be critical for the disease induction. A T-cell line (CD4+, T-cell receptor V beta 8+, interleukin-4+) specific for the N-terminal amino acids 5-23 of glycoprotein D from HSV-1 [gD(5-23)] was established from HSK susceptible C.

We treated 19 patients with anterior uveitis, episcleritis, or scleritis associated with inflammatory bowel disease. Adequate control of ocular inflammation was achieved in 16 patients (84%). Ocular inflammation was adequately controlled with corticosteroids alone, without systemic adverse effects, in only three patients, all of whom had anterior uveitis associated with ulcerative colitis.

To study the properties of the T lymphocytes involved in HSK, susceptible mice were immunized with the synthetic peptide corresponding to the amino terminal of HSV-1-associated glycoprotein D (gD 5-23). A CD4+ long-term T cell line and a clone bearing V beta 8.

Cytotoxic immunosuppressive drug therapy is effective treatment for this disorder but potentially highly toxic. Recent uncontrolled and anecdotal reports have suggested a possible therapeutic role for a much less toxic agent, trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole, in limited Wegener's granulomatosis.

The majority of human peripheral blood and lymphoid tissue T cells express the TCR alpha/beta heterodimer, while the TCR gamma/delta is expressed on only a small subset of T lymphocytes. However, the majority of murine intraepithelial lymphocytes and most Thy-1+ murine dendritic epidermal cells express the TCR gamma/delta. Selective homing of avian TCR gamma/delta bearing lymphocytes to the intestinal epithelium also has been shown.

However, ANCA sensitivity and specificity in identifying patients in whom ophthalmic signs constitute the presenting or only definitive manifestation of Wegener's granulomatosis have not been tested. The authors report on 7 patients in whom scleritis was the initial manifestation leading to the diagnosis of Wegener's granulomatosis.
