Article Synopsis
- Twelve patients with myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) underwent immunosuppressive therapy, using treatments like cyclosporin A (CyA) and antithymocyte globulin (ATG), with G-CSF combined for most.
- Eight patients achieved transfusion-independence, particularly ones with refractory anemia, but those with advanced refractory anemia showed no improvement.
- The presence of certain genetic markers (HLA-DR15) correlated with better treatment responses, and responsive patients shared characteristics such as no chromosomal abnormalities and a short time from diagnosis to therapy.
