The present-day diagnosing and treatment of ruptures of the diaphragm is a most difficult part of polytrauma surgery. [Surgical treatment of isolated injuries of the pancreas].

Isolated injuries were observed in 22 (16 men and 6 women) of 71 patients with a trauma of the pancreas. The correct diagnosis prior to operation was made in 3 patients. Laparotomy has revealed a complete transverse rupture of the pancreas in 4 patients.

[Surgical choices in injuries of the inferior vena cava].

The results of treatment of 15 patients with injuries to the inferior vena cava (IVC) are presented. Knife injuries were noted in 13 of them, gunshot injuries--in 1, closed traumas of the thorax and abdomen--in 1. In 6 patients, IVC was injured at its suprarenal part, in 1--at the level of confluence of the renal veins, in 8--at the infrarenal zone.

[Effectiveness of laparoscopy in the diagnosis of diseases simulating "acute abdomen"].

The authors have performed an analysis of results of 242 emergent laparoscopies fulfilled in patients aged from 15 to 89 years. No acute surgical diseases were found in 103 cases. In 56 patients there were chronic diseases of organs of the abdominal cavity, 47 patients had no such pathology.
